Meet Heather Bostick | Wedding Floral Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Bostick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing people often don’t realize about the wedding floral industry is how much of it goes far beyond arranging beautiful blooms. It’s a high-pressure blend of artistic direction, production logistics, and on-the-spot problem solving. Behind every effortless floral moment is a designer navigating extreme weather, last-minute changes, and delicate materials—all while keeping the vision intact. It’s not just about flowers—it’s about creating an immersive experience under intense, real-world conditions.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fashionable Florist is a boutique floral atelier rooted in the belief that flowers shouldn’t just be beautiful—they should be unforgettable. We specialize in statement florals for weddings and events that make people gasp—the kind of florals that steal the show and linger in your memory long after the last dance. Every design is part art installation, part editorial fantasy, and entirely custom to each client. We don’t do cookie-cutter. We do couture.
What sets us apart is our fusion of high fashion, intentional design, and eco-conscious practices. Our installs are bold, fashion-forward, and meticulously styled—not just with premium blooms, but with curated rentals, textiles, and tablescapes that complete the story. And because I believe beauty shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense, we use sustainable techniques like chicken wire mechanics and foam-free installs whenever possible.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I left a 17-year teaching career and jumped into florals with passion, a sketchbook, and a whole lot of hustle. I learned through travel, mentorship, and hands-on trial (and error). There were moments of burnout, of questioning, of starting over. But the biggest lesson? Authenticity wins. When I stopped trying to be what I thought a florist should be and leaned into my runway-meets-romance aesthetic, everything clicked.
What I want the world to know is this: you’re not just booking a florist—you’re partnering with a designer who sees florals as fashion, who builds visual moments, and who fiercely believes your event should feel as iconic as it is personal. Fashionable Florist is about more than flowers. It’s about creating magic that’s layered, intentional, and unforgettable.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit Houston, we’d be doing more than sightseeing—we’d be curating a vibe. I’d craft the kind of week that feels like a well-styled editorial spread: bold, beautiful, and dripping in personality.
Day 1: Champagne & Chic Entrances
We’d start strong with dinner at Annabelle Brasserie in Autry Park. The interiors are stunning, the menu is elevated, and it sets the tone for a week of glam-meets-soulful Houston energy. Bonus points for ordering dessert first.
Day 2: Artful Indulgence
We’d dive into culture at The Museum of Fine Arts or The Menil Collection—perfect for fueling our inner creatives. After that, lunch at Rosie Cannonball (because carbs are couture) and a quick wander through Montrose Cheese & Wine for an afternoon pick-me-up.
Day 3: Couture in The Woodlands
Time to show her my world. We’d head to The Woodlands for a full day of luxury and calm. Brunch at The Audrey is a must—it’s effortlessly polished and gives just the right dose of main character energy. After that, shopping at Market Street, a walk along the waterway, and a venue peek so she can see where some of my favorite floral installs happen.
Day 4: Wonderland in Bellaire
We’d explore Evelyn’s Park and go full fantasy with the Alice in Wonderland-themed sculpture garden. The “Move One Place On” installation has 150 hidden elements, and you better believe we’re making a game out of finding every last one. Lunch at Betsy’s Café onsite, then a golden hour stroll through the gardens before heading back for cocktails.
Day 5: Mood, Music, Madera
Time to turn up the heat—dinner at Toca Madera is dramatic in all the right ways. Think luxe lighting, live music, and a tequila menu that comes with side of glam. It’s a whole vibe, and yes, we’re dressing like we might get discovered for a magazine cover.
Day 6: Self-Care & Studio Time
We’d treat ourselves to facials or massages at Milk + Honey Spa, followed by coffee at Thompson + Hanson Garden House Café, where the florals and ambiance are giving designer’s day off. Then we’d head back to my studio or setup for a flower bar night—DIY bouquets, wine, and laughter until midnight.
Day 7: Soft Landing Sunday
We’d wrap with brunch at Common Bond, a browse through a local farmers market, and maybe a cheeky final stop at Discovery Green. Something easy, beautiful, and perfectly full circle
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my journey has been shaped by a whole cast of unsung heroes. I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to the women who quietly lifted me—florists, mentors, and creative entrepreneurs—many of whom didn’t even realize they were guiding me. From industry workshops to off-the-cuff advice in floral coolers, their generosity and excellence set the bar.
I also have deep gratitude for my time as a teacher. Seventeen years in the classroom taught me how to lead with intention, adapt quickly, and create beauty under pressure—all skills that translate directly into floral design.
And of course, my family deserves endless credit. My parents instilled a work ethic that doesn’t quit and a belief that you don’t show up halfway—you show up ready to deliver something extraordinary. Their influence is in every bouquet I build and every detail I obsess over.
