We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Paschal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Helena, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The foundation of my success is education and resilience. I look at risks as opportunities to learn, change, and make progress. I believe you can only fail if you quit. I don’t fear taking risks because I know they are essential for growth. When I decided to become the first in my family to graduate college, I didn’t know how to do it but I did it. When I moved to start my own business, I didn’t know anyone but I knew my services wouldn’t be valued in my hometown. When I decided to travel throughout the country to offer my services, I didn’t personally have the money to do it but my business afforded me the opportunity to impact thousands of people in the nation. You don’t need to know how, you just need to know anything is possible and go for it!
What should our readers know about your business?
It was not easy at all. No one in my family is an entrepreneur and 15 years later, they still ask, “Have you found a job, yet?” When people don’t believe in you, you must believe in yourself. I focus my attention on who I can help each day. There is always someone with a problem that I can help solve. I learned that your self worth is not determined by your bank account but it is about the value of your purpose and sharing it with the world. Your presence matters. I want people to know that the world needs your gifts and talents and you need to show up, shine, and over deliver everyday!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love the Post Oak Hotel. We would stay at the hotel and go swimming and have sushi and cocktails poolside. For a midday treat, we would have coffee and a pastry at Bouche’e Patisserie. Dinner would be at Mastro’s or Steak 48. We would end the evening at a lounge for music and good vibes at Five Central or Almeda at either 5015 or Faces Ultra Lounge. Sunday brunch would be at Taste Bar + Kitchen. Other spots would include City Centre, Galleria Mall, Kemah Boardwalk, Brain Freeze Snow Cones, The Woodhouse Day Spa, Sugar Room, Pinstripes Bowling, Astros Game, Discover Green, Bloom & Bee, Painting with a Twist, FAO, and Happy Hour at Zaza Hotel.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my daughter, Christina Paschal! My love for her pushed me out of my comfort zone to take the risks needed to give her the life she deserves!
