We had the good fortune of connecting with Honeymoon Aljabri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Honeymoon, why did you pursue a creative career?
I do enjoy learning about history, and storytelling. If we do not tell our own story, someone will tell, and when they do, most time they will shape and change how we know about us. I am Africa female filmmaker, I chose this career because I want to re write about African stories, I want to ask question about women and the power we have to change the world.. Is not easy to a female African filmmaker, but lots of tears and running around, step by step I believe one day I will be able to change mind of many who think less about Africa, especial African women.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to all Female filmmakers, I know is not easy to fight the fight ,” the men club” . I believe women filmmaker we are responsible to fight and to make sure there will be a chair for us at the main table. We need to pull each other up than to push each other down. We need to write and direct film that empower women than all stereotypes stories that push women down. We know all women are tough but female filmmaker are crazy, sassy and strong, so to all my girls out there, keep the fighting.
