We had the good fortune of connecting with Ieisha Poags and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ieisha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
I think the biggest lesson I learned is that you have to be consistent an confident in your self always. Me being a hairstylist/cosmetologist has been a blessing to me an I truly thank GOD for the gifts. Being self employed is more like 24 hrs a day work. You have to constantly promote, constantly post, be creative an unique to keep the people watching but it is definitely worth it. Never give up on your goal or your dream if you believe this is your pathway. It’s not always easy but sometimes we have to have setbacks for major comeback!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started in 2013 I was just doing hair out of my home. Now i knew I had a gift because at age 12 was doing designer braids on my brother an he would always get a attention. I went to Paul Mitchell in Las Vegas an got my cosmetology license in 2016 .An right after that about a month later I got my own hair salon which I had for about a year. I even had a hair store in the mall. With the hair store me a my mom was part owner with another investor an it turned out to be a bad partnership so we walked away. That for me was one of the biggest lessons for me because no still regret it till this day. I can’t walk from something that I love an accomplished even if I disagree with the partner. So I just learned to be wise in my decision making. But another accomplishment was me being able to do celebrities hair such as cece peniston, London on da track, Booby , an etc.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Atlanta now but I stayed in Las Vegas for 10 years. I’m still new to the city but I would definitely recommend going downtown for great entertainment an some good food I was recommend Kandi’s restaurant ol lady gang or for some bomb seafood i would say shaking crawfish loooove it! Also Atlantic station has cool little activities down there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All glory to GOD. Without him none of this would be possible. I also want to shoutout to me mom ; she is part of the reason I’m my own boss because she is an entrepreneur an she has always pushed me an encouraged me. An I want to shoutout my dad for encouraging me as well an giving me knowledge about prioritizing an disciplining myself. I appreciate them both. An of course my brother an sisters . They always push me an promote me an I’m thankful for that!
