We had the good fortune of connecting with Indya Guidry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business stemmed mainly from wanting to create a safe & welcoming space in the beauty industry. I began to take my business serious shortly after the impact of COVID-19 and seeing the need for devoted professionals. Overtime I have fallen in love with the creativity I am able to express through my work and having the power to change a persons mood or to simply make their day better by enhancing the beauty they already uphold.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Entrepreneurship has humbled my perspective due to various lessons of trial and error. I’m proud of my ability to KEEP GOING and strive in the creativity and light of my craft. This isn’t just a business I’ve created this is a second home for some & a safe space for all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston is the known for its variety of food and fun. Starting with food we could explore The Sunrise House, Turkey Leg Hut, and Crawfish & Beignets all providing tasty options and ambiance to match. Its only right to venture the vibes off at The Daiquiri Plug, Uptown Lounge, or even call for a stroll through Buffalo Bayou Park. Houston is the home for many leaving my bestie and I with a week filled with many more enjoyable options.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without God, the abundant support of my family, and friends I truly don’t think I would’ve made it this far. They have never fell short of believing in my capability and always giving me the push to keep going especially when it gets difficult. I’m so grateful for the journey, the people I’ve had the pleasure to meet, the rooms I’ve been able to enter, and the various opportunities to grow. Everything along the way has added to the contribution of who I am and where I am today.
