We had the good fortune of connecting with Isa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isa, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started in the fall of 2018. I was sitting at home one day and I wanted to go out. I didn’t have anything to wear, however, I had some left over yarn in my closet and I thought to myself what I could make out of it. I got on YouTube and searched for the most simple top to make. I watched the video and made a red halter top and it’s been history from there. That’s how Gifted Hands by Isa was created.

I’ve always had a passion for fashion. In fact, my father is a seamster. He used to make most of our (siblings and I) clothes when we were young. He would make everything and anything from quilts, tailored suits for men and women, dresses, etc.

What should our readers know about your business?
Im not your average crocheter. I make beautiful handmade and custom made and clothing/accessories. My business caters everyone; from newborn to adult; male and female, and even your pets.

Right now, I’m working on a few projects which one of them is a fashion show. I’m super excited about that.

Getting to where I am at currently hasn’t been an easy road. It’s been a lot of trial and error but I wouldn’t change it for nothing in the world. Being consistent and believing in myself has helped me overcome any hurdles and challenges.

I’ve learned to always be positive and to think outside of the box.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a homebody but I’ll definitely take her out to Ra Sushi or Glorias. Can’t forget Wild Cajun (during crawfish season). We’ll also hit up the museum during the day. For the night life, we’ll go to Tropicana and/or Lumen Lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to definitely give credit and a big shout out to my husband. He has been my rock and my biggest supporter from the very beginning.
