Meet Ivania Tapia | Lash tech

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivania Tapia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivania, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was going through a rough time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. My best friend/ business partner encouraged me to learn how to lash and we started thinking about ideas of us having our own lash studio together. I was always into beauty and her giving me that push was all I needed. I worked 2 jobs and took a lash course to get my lash license. And for months I’ll practice lashing on my best friend whenever I had time. Fast forward 8 months later we got our studio together and that’s where my journey began.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I get excited to meet new clients and building a relationship with them. That’s very important to me, it makes me happy that I can be that person that they can vent to when they come to me, it also keeps me going. Getting to where I’m at took a lot of patience and dedication to practice on my skills. And it was hard to do it at first since I was working 2 jobs and I didn’t have much time to practice how I wanted to. But once me and jailynn got our studio together with her help I was able to then start lashing and doing what I love to do. I learned to be patient, this journey made me realize how bad I wanted to be where I am now and I was trying to rush the process so much, but I had to realize that the process is what makes you, you. I want people to know to stop stressing and know that God has a plan for you and to let go of all the worries you have about what you want to do in life and to put faith in God and what he has in store for you and trust it’s all going to unfold how it’s supposed to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ll recommend cutesy casual restaurant with good food like 60 vines or marmo. The drinks at Clarkwood are so cute and I love the vibe there at night. I love going to puttshack, bowlero, or go to a museum depends on the vibe for some fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to acknowledge that my without my business partner who’s also my best friend, jailynn that goes by @jc_beautystudio I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. She taught me from beginning to end and I’m still learning new things from her. She was there to comfort me when I was in doubt about starting my business, needed more practice, and helped me tremendously with everything I needed. I can’t even express how grateful I am to have such a wonderful person in my life.
