We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Castaneda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackie, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Team work makes the dream work” -Michael Jordan has resonated with me for many years, especially in my career in aesthetics. When working with a team as an individual contributor or as a Sales Director, it truly takes team work to achieve goals, hence making the dream work. As a Sales Manager, it is important to me to ensure my sales team is aligned with the importance of team work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was introduced to the beauty industry at a young age. My grandmother worked at Walgreens as their cosmetics manager and eventually retiring after 30 years. When I turned 16, I applied to Walgreens to follow in her foot steps and landed a part-time position at the cosmetic counter. I was in awe at how many different products were on the shelves and the hundreds of brands to choose from. Fast forward to 2010, I co-founded a medical spa, then 2 years later, I was recruited by a skincare company for an Business Consultant position calling into spa’s, salons, esthetic schools and specialty beauty stores such as Ulta. This is where the fun began and I knew I was in the right industry. In 2014, I was recruited by another skin care company as an Account Executive calling on Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologist’s, then promoted to Regional Sales Director leading a high performing sales team. I always knew I wanted to be in management and mentor other’s to excel in their roles. I enjoy helping other succeed and exceed their professional goals. As a leader, It makes me happy to see my sales team crush their goals, become financially fit and give 110% at work. 2020, we are all faced with a global pandemic. At first I was in shock, scared and unsure of what was going to happen with business. As a leader, It is crucial to stay calm and remain strong for your team and those who look up to you. What 2020 taught me is to be fearless and learn to go with the flow. Fearless in not knowing what each day would bring. Challenge, change and chaos was my new “norm.” Despite the challenge and chaos, 2020 hs been one of the best years! I was recognized as Distinguished Young Alumni from the University of Houstonand I landed a new position as Regional Sales Manager with Pierre-Fabre Group, representing Glytone and Avene skin care brands. I am proud to lead another high performing sales team who continues to break barriers despite the pandemic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success comes from hard work, dedication, on-going education and the support of family and friends. I believe in being an everyday student and learning as much as I can from others.
