We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t start with the mindset of it being an actual business. I was just out of high school and thought it would be fun to sell some pieces here and there. I thought of it as more of a hobby and a good way for me to make a little extra cash while in college. As the years went on, my sales steadily began increasing. I decided to start treating it like a job and began putting a lot more of my time and energy into my brand. I’m so proud of the small business I have been able to cultivate and so grateful for all I have been able to learn throughout the process.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love to design jewelry that is representative of my style. My pieces are all very delicate and wearable for every day. It’s taken some time to feel like my brand was a true reflection of myself, but as I have grown as a person, so has my business. I found it very easy in the beginning to get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing, and I sometimes still do, but I do my best to focus on myself. I love to get inspired by others but stay true to what I love and my personal style.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There are so many amazing spots in Houston! I really love the Heights area for shopping/hanging out. It’s full of so many great small businesses and I always find unique things I can’t find anywhere else. I also don’t think you can top the food in Houston. Some of my favorites are Le Colonial, Cuchara, Bisou and Travelers Table.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been my biggest support system and have helped me since day one. From hand making jewelry to post office runs to business advice, they’ve done it all! I’m incredibly grateful to have so much support around me.
