We had the good fortune of connecting with James Inman | Melanie Alva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James | Melanie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Making art is like breathing. We don’t remember learning how to do it and if we ever stop, we’ll die. So…being that we have to pay for things to stay alive, and there are only so many hours in a day, the choice to make art as a career decided itself. Our talents, strengths and weaknesses complement each other well, and we share a strong will to voice similar messages into the world. It made the most sense to do so together.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The release party of our short film is what we are most looking forward to at this time. Symbolism is what drives our narrative and we put it in everything we make. It’s in our fashion, sounds, movements, characters, and mood.
This short film is our first story that will be conveyed in this way, and we are excited to share the work we created along with a group of passionate collaborating artists.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Picnic in Zilker with a coochieboard is always a great place to unwind and people watch. At night we’d definitely have to take our guest to 4th street for a drag show and some queer dancing 💃
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Nani Melendez. Model and Creative in San Antonio TX. She has been the muse for us since the start of our current storytelling journey. The inspiration she has given us and connections we have made along side Nani have made a big impact on our career direction.
