We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamilah Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamilah, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Persistence is so important to the success of any business and brand. Entrepreneurship is tough! You’re entering uncharted territories that most of your friends, family and colleagues have not experienced; and most of them cannot help you navigate this journey! You have to have the mental grit and fortitude to keep moving forward in spite of the daily setbacks and being told it can’t be done. Staying the course will strengthen your faith and ability to communicate your goals with others. Don’t give up on yourself; God hasn’t and neither have I.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a serial entrepreneur, As the founder and owner of J Robinson Digital Media Services LLC, I help small businesses and non-profit organizations create an online marketing presence. I am also a business partner and managing member, serving as President for Affinity Weddings TV, a company that produces wedding reality tv to help brides plan their weddings; and, am the founder and board member of the Missing Pieces Support Group Texas, a non-profit that brings awareness to pregnancy loss awareness and serves the community through care packages for families who encounter baby loss.

Each of my businesses were designed to fill a need and support the community. You can only grow by giving back to others, and this is the core objective in each of my business initiatives.

This sounds like a lot; and I bet most of you are wondering how I do it all. The answer lies in extending the work beyond yourself. I’ve had to learn this the hard way; thinking there was no one else who could deliver and execute the work with as much quality as me. What I’ve since learned is that if you take the time to invest and pour into other people through mentorship and team development, you can accomplish so much more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston is such a cultural melting pot; and as a foodie, I have learned that it has some of the best local eateries! I’d definitely recommend a tour and visit to Saint Arnold’s brewery; stopping by the Turkey Leg Hut for the main course and then having coffee and dessert at Toute Suite cafe. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like use this opportunity to thank my husband, Roblyn Robinson and my family for always believing that I can do anything I set my mind to. It’s so helpful to turn to them in some of my darkest moments when I just don’t have the will power to keep going. My mother is one of my biggest cheerleaders and my husband always lets me know that he believes in me. And although either one of them truly understand what it is I do, their confidence is so encouraging.

There was also a point in my entrepreneur career where I hit the proverbial “wall” and could not figure out how to grow or expand my business. I’d been praying and affirming that a mentor would enter my life to help show me the way. In 2018, I was introduced to Bailey Jordan as a client needing my services. He could tell that I was struggling; doing all the things as a solopreneur and has since provided me guidance and real world experience in running a company as a CEO; and I am forever grateful.
