We had the good fortune of connecting with Jana Miranda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
On my previous feature with this Magazine, I was in a building that was too small and I was turning Stylist away. I knew I needed a bigger space. But bigger space comes with a lot bigger EVERYTHING! But I had to believe in myself and the dream that Hod placed in me and do it!

What should our readers know about your business?
J.Capelli Salon is more than a beauty space — it’s an experience. What sets us apart is the balance of elevated skill and genuine connection. Every guest who walks through our doors is seen, heard, and cared for with intention.

Our growth hasn’t been easy. It’s taken long hours, hard lessons, and unwavering commitment. But every challenge shaped our leadership, strengthened our systems, and clarified our vision.

What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built — a team that values excellence, integrity, and continuous growth. At J.Capelli, we don’t just do hair. We create confidence, community, and a standard we’re proud to stand behind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely plan around great food because Houston’s food scene is unmatched — from upscale dining to the best hidden gems you’ll ever find. Depending on the season, we’d add in a Texans, Astros, or Rockets game, maybe a concert downtown, a rooftop for drinks, and some time exploring the city’s different neighborhoods.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daughter has been the fire behind everything I’ve built. Becoming a mom at a young age could have been seen as a setback, but for me, it was a turning point. She gave me clarity, determination, and the courage to create the life we both deserved. I can’t imagine my journey without her.
