We had the good fortune of connecting with Janet Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janet, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Back in 1992 I was laid off of a job working in customer service. I decided that I no longer wanted anyone to have control over the money I made and after seeing another woman creating a business around what she was good at I started my firm in 1994.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been in business for over 27 years. I have appeared in the Rachael Ray Show and HGTV. Due to COVID 19 I have had to shift and now offer virtual organizing and webinars. At one point I become a government contractor working on 3 contracts at the same time. I was able to take my experiences from banking, retail management and customer service and use them in my business and working with clients. I One of my biggest accomplishments and most recent was I was the featured speaker for the Black Girls Who Organize.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to Ann Strickland who encouraged me to start a podcast. Ann said people need to here how you can help them get organized. Since then the podcast has been featured in Podcast Magazine, ranked 2nd organizing podcast in the country and is streamed on over 7 platforms.
