We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Flowers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Since I work full time in the medical field, I set aside sometime to create content which is usually on the weekends. But everything has it’s place. You have to have balance with life. So important things should be our first priority. I make sure I put God first because we owe Him our lives. Then next to follow is spending time with my mate and then family and friends. I also find it important to have “me” time so I can recharge and relax.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I will say being a small content creator isn’t easy. For me personally, filming videos for YouTube was awkward for me at first because I am naturally shy but it eventually grew onto me. I am an introvert so it was a challenge at first. I just kept in mind it’s just like talking to a close friend on Zoom. That way the audience feels like you’re talking to them which leads to better engagement. You can get caught up in comparing yourself to others or feeling not good enough. You have to remember that everyone is unique and have their own style… so all you can do is be yourself. And then when you receive recognition for your content, you will be happy that your hard work paid off.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest, I haven’t been to all the popular spots yet but if you were visiting Houston I would say you have to check out these restaurants: Kiss, Traveler’s Table, Thirteen, Taste Bar & Kitchen, Turkey Leg Hut, Brennan’s, and Breakfast Klub. So when you visit to Htown, make sure you come prepared to eat!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In Genesis 1:27 mentions we are made in God’s image so I definitely would have to give all credits to Him. Jehovah God is the first and the best creator ever. And of course, we wouldn’t be here without Him. Secondly, I want to thank my husband for encouraging me to make a YouTube. I doubted myself for about a year but he believed that I could do it, so I did. He knew I was just being hard on myself. I made the account but it took me months to actually upload a video. Then he would ask me “did you post your video yet”until I actually did it lol. Since then my channel has been official for over the past year. I appreciate my husband always giving me support and encouragement when I need it.
