Meet Javan Plummer | Executive Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Javan Plummer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Javan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Houston Runway was built to be more than a fashion show, it’s a platform redefining industry standards. A space where talent is valued beyond appearance, where diversity is more than a talking point, and where creatives are given real opportunities. From the start, my focus has been on elevating models, designers, and artists, creating an ecosystem where they can thrive.
That same vision extends across everything I build. VonGio blends high-end fashion with individuality, proving that luxury and streetwear can coexist effortlessly. Dynamic Visual Productions captures powerful visuals that tell authentic stories, giving brands and artists the representation they deserve. Dynamic X Magazine expands that reach even further, spotlighting innovators, trendsetters, and rising talent in a way mainstream media often overlooks.
Now, with Jay’s Place, I’m stepping into hospitality, bringing that same energy to a new space. Fashion, media, and food all have one thing in common, they bring people together and create experiences that last. Jay’s Place will embody culture, community, and excellence, offering more than just a meal, it will be a destination.
Every brand I create is built with purpose. These aren’t just ordinary businesses; they’re part of a legacy that challenges the norm and provides something real. For sponsors, investors, and industry leaders looking to align with something that stands out, this is just the beginning.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Every brand I’ve built serves a bigger purpose than just being another name in the industry. Houston Runway, VonGio, Dynamic Visual Productions, Dynamic X Magazine, and Jay’s Place are all pieces of a larger vision, to put Houston on the map as a thriving hub for fashion, film, media, and hospitality. Each venture is designed to challenge the norm, create opportunities, and elevate talent that might otherwise go unnoticed.
What sets my businesses apart is that they are not just about profit, they are about impact. Houston Runway is more than an ordinary fashion show; Houston Runway is a platform that values personality, creativity, and inclusivity over superficial industry standards. VonGio brings a new level of luxury to streetwear, blending high-end fashion with everyday style. Dynamic Visual Productions captures powerful stories through film and photography, while Dynamic X Magazine gives a voice to those shaping the future of entertainment, fashion, and culture. And now, Jay’s Place will redefine the hospitality experience, creating a space where culture, community, and excellence come together.
Getting here wasn’t easy. My first fashion show was a financial loss, and I’ve faced my share of challenges from model and designer dropouts, logistical setbacks, and moments where I had to rebuild from scratch. But I never let failure define or shape me. Every challenge was a lesson, and every setback pushed me to adapt, refine, and grow. I learned that success in business is about more than just having a great idea, to be successful you need resilience, strategy, and to surround yourself with the right likeminded people.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that vision alone isn’t enough, you have to execute. You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you don’t take action, they remain just that: ideas. I also realized the importance of building the right team. My success isn’t just mine alone, it belongs to the photographers, designers, models, filmmakers, writers, and countless individuals who contribute their time and talent to making these brands what they are.
What I want the world to know is this: Houston is next. This city has the potential to be a major industry hub, and through my businesses, I am working to make that a reality. The goal isn’t just to succeed personally, it’s to create an infrastructure that brings more opportunities, more business, and more visibility to Houston.
For those looking to invest, collaborate, or sponsor, this is more than just a business venture, it’s a movement. And it’s only getting bigger.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alright, if you’re planning a trip to Houston, let me give you the ultimate guide to having the best time ever. First thing’s first, when you land, you’ve got to check out Space Center Houston. It’s not just a museum, it’s a total experience. The exhibits make you feel like you’re walking through history, from the Moon landing to the space race. After soaking in all the space knowledge, we’ll head over to Uchi for dinner. Trust me, it’s one of the best places in town. The flavors they serve up are a mix of Japanese influences, and the food presentation is out of this world. You’re going to love it.
On Day 2, we’ll dive into some culture. We’re going to hit up the Houston Museum of Natural Science, which is packed with everything from dinosaurs to space, so you can literally spend hours there. Then, we’ll take it easy in Hermann Park. The McGovern Centennial Gardens there are beautiful, and it’s the perfect place to just unwind. For the evening, we’ve got tickets for a performance at Alley Theatre. Houston’s theater scene is underrated, and they have some seriously great shows.
Day 3 is all about art and history. First stop: Museum of Fine Arts. This place has a massive collection of art from all over the world, so expect your mind to be blown. After that, we’ll head over to the Menil Collection for a more intimate experience with some of the best contemporary art. When the sun goes down, we’ll hit up the Theater District to catch another performance. There’s always something amazing going on there.
Now, Day 4 is all about food. We’ll start the morning with a killer brunch at Common Bond Café & Bakery. Their pastries are out of this world, and the breakfast options will totally set you up for the day. After we’re fueled up, we’ll check out The Galleria. It’s not just a shopping mall, you can shop, eat, and even ice skate there. And for dinner, we’ll head to Raven Grill. It’s the perfect blend of Southern comfort food and modern twists, the vibe is perfect for a laid-back evening.
On Day 5, it’s time to embrace nature. We’ll start the day at the Houston Zoo, which is absolutely massive and one of the best zoos in the country. After we’ve seen all the animals, we’ll hit up Buffalo Bayou Park. You can walk, bike, or just chill and take in the views of downtown Houston, it’s the perfect spot to snap some pics. As night falls, we’ll head to House of Blues for some live music. It’s the place to be for good vibes and great tunes.
On Day 6, we’ll take it back in time with a visit to Sam Houston Park, where we can explore Houston’s history through restored homes and exhibits. After that, we’ll make our way to Saint Arnold Brewing Company for a tour. They’re Texas’s oldest craft brewery, and the beers are top-notch. For dinner, we’ll check out The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation. It’s an iconic spot in Houston, serving up some of the best Tex-Mex in the city. You’ll definitely want to try the fajitas.
Finally, on Day 7, we’ll wrap it up with a hearty breakfast at Baby Barnaby’s Café. The portions are massive, and the food is perfect for the last day. Then, we’ll take a nice, relaxing stroll through Discovery Green, which is a huge park in the middle of the city that’s full of art, green space, and good energy. It’s the perfect way to end your trip.
By the end of the week, you’ll see that Houston is way more than just a city, it’s a whole vibe. Every place, every experience is something unique, and there’s always more to discover. Trust me, you’re going to love it here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

A huge shoutout to all of my independent contractors, who work tirelessly behind the scenes at my events, productions, and film sets. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. And of course, to my Houston Runway and VonGio ambassadors and influencers, your dedication, creativity, and passion help push the vision forward every day.
Each brand I’ve created is part of a bigger mission: putting Houston on the map as a major industry hub. The more we build, the more opportunities we create, not just for ourselves but for the city as a whole. Houston has the talent, the culture, and the potential to be a global force in fashion, film, and entertainment, and I’m committed to making that happen.
Success is never a solo effort, and I’m grateful for every person who has contributed to this journey. The best is yet to come.
