We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is ‘Love You in Every Way’. I started that quote for myself because oftentimes I didn’t like how I looked in a certain way, but now more than ever I’m learning how to love me for me. I want my clients to feel that way about themselves as well. They can be themselves and love the skin, body, hair, and personality that they walk in every day. Their beauty lies within.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The most important thing that sets me apart from others is I have God. God revealed my purpose to me when I was 14. Being a photographer allows me to show my clients their beauty even when they doubt themselves. It took a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where I am today. A lot of tears, questions, and long nights. It was not easy, but God helped me push through. My family and best friends supported me through the hard times and motivated me to keep going. My journey in this profession taught me that I still can’t give up no matter what. Sois Toi Photography is about being who you are unapologetic. You are your only limit. Within the experience of a photoshoot, you will laugh, have fun, let your personality show, and see yourself the way you were intended to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in Houston is Elenor Tinsley Park. I love looking at the Houston skyline. It brings a sense of peace. If it was a week-long trip there are so many great places to socialize and more. I would personally have to take my best friend to The Breakfast Klub for brunch. I find it to be the most fun when I am surrounded by the people I love. I will say that love to bowl, skate, go-kart ride, have game nights, etc. with family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost thank you Shoutout for giving me this opportunity. I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family, especially my brother & sisters. Whether they know it or not, they have motivated me in a big way that I’ll never forget. Seeing them live in their truth helped me to persevere through the hard times. My parents also played a huge role in who I am today. They not only gave me life but they helped me to learn how to live it to the fullest with no regrets.
