We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayda Gabriel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayda, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success isn’t even success. As cliche as it sounds, I want others to use their voice. I want children to feel empowered. As a child I didn’t have a voice, even as I grew into adulthood. My brand, “joyfullighthealing” means finding peace, living in your truth, and getting that healing that only God can provide. Success has a stigma of numbers and money behind it, let’s change the word to Goal because goal brings forth ambition and my ambition comes from my childhood and adulthood healing so that I can set the example through my poetry of what a broken person can become.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is simple, God. No need to go further into that. He speaks volumes over and in my life already.

I am excited to publish my book, hopefully this year! It’s been a long journey and as I read my poems again I see the change and healing took place in my life. I’m also working on a second book as well.

My dad use to write poetry and I believe that I developed that same love and yes, it came easy. It’s like second nature to me.

I learned that I have to set boundaries, love myself, gain confidence, serve God without shame, and love my freakin life!

I want the world to know that they truly are not alone, I’ve been through so much that I use to question and say “why me” but now I know I’m an example of what you can go through and come out of and still live in peace.

My book is called bones and once i show the world the book and let them read it, they will understand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m more of a home body, so I don’t like to go out a lot, but I’d say let’s go to RA sushi, Burger Park for sureeeee! I love eating so we can eat anywhere! Waffle bus! Aga’s And any ice cream place! I love to go to parks, bowling, hiking, and shopping of course! My new fave shoe place is bouncebackhtx.

I’d say go to every museum because they are all dope and on Thursday’s it’s free from 2-6, lol. I also love karaoke but I’ve only been to Christian tailgate which is dope.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to first give recognition to God because He knew my story and where I would ultimately end up, but he let me make my decisions of how I got there. It was bumpy but I made it. I want to give a shout-out to my Mom, who passed away when I was a child. The first word Joyful is dedicated to her because her middle name is Joy. I also want to shoutout everyone from all over the world because I hope this poetry book helps you gain that healing you so deserve.
