We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayveon Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayveon, how does your business help the community?
STILL I RISE LLC is rooted in the belief that hip-hop has the power to cross cultural boundaries and impact communities in ways no other genre can. Our mission is to help the next generation harness this power by teaching them not only the artistic side of hip-hop but also the critical behind-the-scenes roles like videography, production, marketing, and management. We want to create opportunities for students to see beyond the spotlight and realize that their passions can lead to real careers within the industry.

In Dallas and Austin, we’ve already seen the impact of this approach. We’ve worked with high school and college students on real-world projects, from music video production to social media strategy, showing them the possibilities that exist beyond being an artist. By equipping these young people with skills they can carry forward, we are empowering them to rise above their circumstances and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Moreover, by choosing hip-hop, we’re not only connecting with the culture that resonates with today’s youth, but we’re also helping them steward the power of this tool responsibly. Hip-hop has the unique ability to unite people across races, backgrounds, and beliefs, and STILL I RISE LLC is committed to guiding students to use this influence for positive change. We’re showing them that they can rise above the harmful messages sometimes perpetuated by the media and instead embrace the platform as a force for good. It’s about turning the culture of struggle into a culture of success, grounded in faith, and driven by community.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in vulnerability and authenticity, and that’s what sets me apart from many others. I don’t just rap about success or perfection; I share my struggles, shortcomings, and how God has helped me navigate through them—or how I’m still wrestling with them. This openness resonates with young people who feel the pressures of social media and false narratives of perfection. My music lets them know it’s okay to struggle, and through that, they find strength.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how my music has become a tool for change, not just entertainment. Through STILL I RISE LLC, I’m using hip-hop to teach the next generation about the opportunities within the music industry, particularly behind the scenes. The goal is to equip students with skills they can use to build their own careers while learning to steward the power of hip-hop as a cultural tool.

Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. It took years of perseverance, and many doors were shut in my face before others opened. But it was through those closed doors and setbacks that I learned the importance of faith, patience, and hard work. Every challenge I faced prepared me for the next opportunity. The toughest moments were the ones that tested me the most, but those are the moments I look back on with the most gratitude because they shaped my journey.

A big lesson I’ve learned along the way is that success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to put in the work, surround yourself with people who believe in you, and be willing to take risks, even if they seem crazy at the time. My recent move from Austin to Dallas is a testament to that—it was a leap of faith, but it’s one that has opened doors I never would have imagined.

What I want the world to know about me, my brand, and my story is that STILL I RISE LLC is bigger than just music. It’s a movement, one that’s rooted in community, faith, and giving back. My mission is to create a platform that brings people together through creative partnerships, and I believe that with God’s guidance, we can inspire and equip the next generation to rise above adversity, just like I did and currently doing,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Houston, I’d make sure they had an unforgettable time! We’d kick things off at Ramen Tatsuya because there’s something about their “Mi-so-hot” dish that I just can’t get enough of. After that, I’d host a friendly gathering centered around a game night at my place—there’s nothing better than good vibes and a little friendly competition with friends.

Next, I’d take them out to Spring Creek Greenway for a scenic hike, enjoying the beauty of nature right here in Houston. And of course, I’d want to catch up with my boy Eric Belt II. He’s one of the wisest brothers I know, so we’d hit the basketball court and dive into some deep conversations about life and faith.

To round out the trip, I’d rely on my friend Jalan, who knows everyone and everything in the city. He’d be the one to organize the rest of our itinerary, ensuring we don’t miss any hidden gems. With good food, great people, and unforgettable memories, it’d be a week to remember!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to give all glory and honor to God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—because nothing in my life would be possible without His guiding hand. Every step, every opportunity has been orchestrated by His grace.

I also want to shout out my incredible wife, Geneva Jackson. She has an innate ability to take the visions I share and breathe life into them with love and humility. Her support fuels me daily, and I wouldn’t be where I am without her.

To my close friends, family, and mentors, thank you for showing up to every show, believing in me, and never doubting my dreams. Your constant encouragement has kept me pushing forward.

Lastly, there’s a special group of brothers I want to recognize, “THE BBB.” These men are a legion of black mentors who have poured into me with nothing but pure love, seeking only to see God glorified and to lift up young lions like myself. Their wisdom and support have shaped me into the person I am today.
