Meet Jeanette & Stephen Wear | Owners of Big Bash Rentals

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanette & Stephen Wear and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanette & Stephen, how do you think about risk?
Risks have not always been something that has been easy get past in our life/career. We thought about starting this Big Bash Rentals for years. We always had a picture perfect image of what our success could look like, but we would immediately become so distracted and discouraged on the hypothetical negative results. It took some positive self encouragement to take a leap with a high risk. We have educated ourselves to think about risk as a challenge with a reward. Even though we may not be victorious when it comes to a specific idea for our rental business, our reward dispite of the failure has been growth and progression. At times it is extremely difficult to take risks due to probability that failure may be the result. However, when failure has occurred in our business it has been when true growth and innovation has superseded the failure. During these times of failure, we have regrouped, learned and innovated our business and ideas.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Big Bash Rentals is a family first business. We believe that bringing families and friends together for parties and events is our WHY. We are very proud and excited about the variety of rentals that we offer. Bringing people together could look like a Big Bash Movie Night, an epic big birthday bash or a charity event. Throughout all of these events our number one goal is to bring people together and to ensure they have a great time. We would like everyone to know that we value family and that is what I believe sets us apart from other businesses. We have learned to build relationships with other creators and innovators throughout our field. This networking creates not only opportunities but also allows for business growth. We aspire to let the world know that our brand is compassion, fun and family first.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Houston, TX, the first place I would take them to would be Lucilles for the fried green tomatoes and then to the Cuchara for the ambience and the amazing food and drinks. I would encourage them to stay at the Marriott Marquis to chill but big Texas State shaped pool. We would take them to the Rustic right around the corner for some live music. I would also take them to the of Post Office on Franklin Street that that is now called Post Houston to visit a ton of local businesses. ASTROS game at 7pm. We will also take them on a Houston brewery hop, at Karbach, 8th Wonder and St. Arnolds. I would take them down to the farmers market on Airline Drive and then to El Bollio to get some pan dulce. Galleria and uptown for some shopping and then Urbe for some Margaritas!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big Bash Rentals would like to give a HUGE shout out to other small business owners, designers, innovators and creators in our profession/craft. We are extremely encouraged by the success of others and their ambitions. I think the pure creativeness our profession/craft is extremely encouraging and worth a BIG shoutout. We would also like to thank our family and friends, the BIG BASH family, they have supported us through mentorships and have shown us so much love. We love them BIG!
