Meet Jennie Strader | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennie Strader and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
This location is franchised by the Strader family. Matt, the owner, still has a full-time job as a teacher, and Jennie, the owner, has been a stay-at-home mom for the last 25 years focused on raising their 6 children. They were determined to propel their new business and learn and thrive alongside their staff. This dream has surely become a reality. However, many adaptations to their personal lives and careers were made throughout the journey.

The manager and daughter, Madison Strader, came home from college to not only receive the necessary training but also facilitate the establishment, set the standards, and hire incoming staff.

Furthermore, her parents, Matt and Jennie Strader, have also served administrative roles, have worked alongside their staff day in and day out and kept ongoing connections with corporate liaisons.

While they’ve worked various hours full-time and kept up with previous responsibilities as well, the Straders have loved every minute of it. This is just the beginning.

What should our readers know about your business?
There’s so much that goes on with owning a restaurant, especially one that’s unheard of or new to the area. This concept has exploded in many other areas of the country, but we are the first of its kind in Texas. (Though there are many more coming in the near future.) Being the first in this area, we’ve had many surprises along the way in regards to internal operations, finances, and outreach.

The work we do isn’t always easy. We work with hundreds of drink combinations and have the staff memorize various mixtures to expedite production and customer satisfaction.

In a way, we are scientists in our own regard. We don’t call ourselves Fiiz-icists for nothing!

The risks we don’t take are potentially the opportunities that could bring exceptional results. Franchising the only FiiZ shop in Texas had a lot of risks involved, and we would be lying if we weren’t worried at times. However, the hard work and constant effort have brought us huge success. Not only have we successfully marketed ourselves, but we’ve also continued to satisfy the cravings of our loyal customers time and time again. With each menu item we make, thoughtful diligence and care are taken to ensure the highest standards are met.

Taking risks is part of growing a successful business. It has certainly taught us that the hurdles we decide to jump do have the potential to reach unimaginable milestones. The careers of our staff have greatly benefited from this as we continue to learn about the growing industry together.

A legacy we want is to be a place that allows people in our community to create long-lasting memories and to become recognized as the go-to place to enjoy delicious drinks and treats. Furthermore, we want to be remembered as a restaurant that genuinely cares for its customers. We put our best effort to create a welcoming, hospitable environment for everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re located in a growing, thriving place within the Greater Houston area! Our best friend would first be invited to relax at the Drift Away Nail Lounge right by our restaurant where she could enjoy a relaxing spa environment. Throughout the week, we’d take her along for food at Karma Kolaches or the Brooklyn Pizzeria and top it off with refreshing beverages from FiiZ Drinks!

Our neighbors at the Shops at Hillcrest cater to various needs and desires.

Residing near the calm Gleannloch suburbs equals a safe, heartwarming atmosphere.

If we were in the mood for something serene we could even take walks in one of the parks while sipping ice-cold sodas under the warm summer sky after splurging at nearby shopping centers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most important factor behind our success would be the incredible support we have received from our friends and family, our church community, nearby businesses and schools, and of course, our customers. None of this would have been possible without the amazing support we’ve had since day one. We’ve done this together as a family, and it has grown in ways we would not have expected!
