We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Redente and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
While serving in the military, part of my job included planning events. Not only was I really good at it, but I loved doing it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I mentioned, I serve for 20 years in the military. I was all about helping in whatever way I could as a volunteer, but then I retrained into public affairs, and whatever I was tasked with (volunteer or work responsibilities) it included various forms of event planning. In the beginning, it was a challenge, trying to determine what was needed, how to plan for contingencies, but then, it became pretty easy. I’m just happy to be able to still help where I can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since this is an aspect of what I like to do, it can be that simple, as I would need to ask questions ahead of time, but for the sake of brevity, time and scenario:

2:30 pm Flight arrives at Friday.
3 pm Depart for hotel and check in.
3:30 pm. Freshen up
4 pm Departure for early Dinner
4:30 pm Arrive at Pappadoux’s
6 pm. Depart for The Pearl
Check out the area-go to Cured, Hotel Emma, Bottling Department, Park Bar, and the amphitheater might have entertainment.

10 pm Return to hotel

Saturday
8 am. Breakfast at Gunther House or Magnilia Pancakes

9 am. Go to old trolley’s tour
9:30 am. Tour begins
Hop on and off to see major sites (all day affair: Alamo, hopscotch, Ripley’s, churches, etc)

Recommend having lunch at Chart House at the Tower of Americas.

If there is still time, go see the missions.

5 pm. Return to hotel and freshen up

6 pm. Have dinner at Boudro’s

7 pm Go to Majestic for show

9:30 pm. Return to hotel

Sunday

8 am. Breakfast at Lulu’s Dinner

9 am Return to hotel/checkout

10 am Go to airport

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family played a huge role in the person I turned out to be. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. While my business is very different than the rest, I think my upbringing in a family of hard workers helped me become the person I am today striving to help people in our own ways.
