We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny, what do you attribute your success to?
I know you asked for 1 but 2 of The most important factors behind my success is purpose and integrity. I realized just cleaning wasn’t what gave me drive, but doing it with a purpose is. I strictly clean for mothers and adults 50+. Knowing I am helping people who call on me for help rather than convenience makes me want to do my job 10 times better! Integrity, knowing I am trusted to be in someone’s safe space/sanctuary is really big to me. Also, certain clients vent to me about their personal life. That amount of trust purpose(Ly) full fills me! I am a word of mouth cleaning company because of the proof that they can trust me and whatever promises or expectations I give to myself I honor it. I am also not afraid of correction.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I truly believe what sets me apart is my willingness to grow and be corrected by my clients. I learn from each client home I attend because I make it my mission to build some kind of rapport. My business is a business but it’s also personal for me. My goal with cleaning is to reach my community by implementing the concept of “a village”. I am proud of the fact that my business is built on purpose and not profit. I got to where I am, business wise by making mistakes, being open to correction, and actually correcting my mistakes. I love that the clients I attracted in the beginning was willing to teach me when I started and didn’t just give up on me. My 2nd village! It was far from easy, it was a process. I am in an industry where people are entitled to get not only what they ask for, but what they pay for. Imagine trying to make a handful of people happy in different ways! Huge challenge but I have accepted it and have organized or implemented a system where I make sure what they ask for they receive and if I am able to offer more i do so. Learning from your mistakes and not repeating them has to be one of the most important lessons in business and also in life. Overall I would like for the world to know that my cleaning service is purpose based. We strive to make everyday life a little bit easier for those who are no longer able to keep their home clean or have their hands full with the responsibilities of being a mother.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whew! Lol I’m truly a homebody, “I’m scared to come outside” lol. When I do get out I always book monthly trips with a group called E4S (Events4Sisterhood), and we visit wineries throughout Texas. I enjoy peace more than anything. Crowds aren’t my arena of choice. So for that week it would be a self-care week receiving massages, alcoholic beverages, inclusive resort in The Woodlands, waxing, nails done and a little therapeutic conversations to release the weight of life. Thank God my Bestfriend knows that, it would be a therapeutic week to her but a relaxed week for me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout-out my village. I wouldn’t be far without the help of all of them. My village is who hired me when no one else knew of me. My village is who corrected my mistakes and still allowed me to come back into their home until I got it right. I never want to seclude or separate them because they have all contributed to the success I am grateful for now. However I specifically want to give gratitude and acknowledgment to my mother, Rhonda Robertson and my big sister, Chelsea Waddy.
