We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremiah W. Mosby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremiah W., what is the most important factor behind your success?
Before being formed in the belly of an educator, plans for being successful were already destined. Rhythm while in the womb was noticeable. After arriving in this world, it was obvious to doctors that I had very strong lungs by the sound of my cry. As an infant, morning, noon, or evening while sitting in my high chair, music was established by the beat of a spoon by me hitting the table. Traveling for miles to school at four years old, while listening, singing and beating the back seat of my moms car for drums to different genres of music (blues country gospel jazz etc) was so enjoyable to me. Unaware of my surroundings, at a very young age (elementary years) I would sing up and down the isles of the supermarket. People were amazed at the gift that God had given me.
Growing up in a christian foundation with my parents and sisters and being led by the Holy Ghost, has been the most important factor behind my success. To God, I give all the glory and honor. Surviving challenges, obstacles and remaining faithful and obedient to a forgiving and loving God, during times while figuring out my purpose, and what He has called me to be. As a servant and son of God, from my youth through college to this present day, there were times I felt discouraged. But endurance and commitment through it all, I’ve learned how to encourage myself and lean and depend on God. As we go through life, good times, trials and tribulations, there is a word and message of hope in my music and songs to tell others about a faithful and a Great Big Mighty God! By willfully following his plan and not my own, He has given me a loving relationship with him and others.
Jeremiah W. Mosby and Friends travel all over, near and far, sincerely worshiping our God. Dreams don’t work unless you do. Faith without works is dead. We know that people’s acceptance or rejection of us is not the measure of our success. God’s approval alone is our standard for service. When God gives you a job, He will provide all you need to do it and He will be with you. And with that assurance, we accepted this task cheerfully and will do it with excellence. We know God has an anointing and the most valuable purpose in mind for us as we journey through this land as we never give up winning souls for Christ.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am overjoyed with Friends. Jeremiah W. Mosby & Friends is a Gospel Recording group that consists of individuals across the state of Texas with singers in the Greater Houston Area, Dallas Metroplex, and East Texas. We are a group of believers that love to sing and serve. In life, nothing is easy. When you have like-minded individuals that see and understand the vision and are willing to walk with the leader through the vision God has assigned him, you can state you are blessed. That assignment is not just the leader’s any more, it becomes the members as well, because this group of individuals was chosen to fulfill the plan God has written for them. So, this isn’t something that is taken lightly. Ministry is serious! As days and months go by, God is still shaping and molding myself and also the group into what He has called us to be. But, as we grow as a group and grow in God, we see lives being changed, families being mended, people being healed and inspired by the songs we sing and the instruments we play. Friends has its own unique sound. We are a group that produces a choir sound. We have a foundation of old school traditional gospel with a splash and hint of modern day contemporary flairs.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a spontaneous person who loves trying new things, so I can’t lay out a strict itinerary. The only must is a visit to Katz’s Deli, Chicken Plus and Willie G’s Seafood—those are some of my favorites! Be mindful, Willie G’s do have a dress code.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
On this journey, there are a lot of individuals that play a major role where I am today. God is always number 1 if it wasn’t for Him, none of this would be possible. I am grateful for my wonderful and loving parents Bobby and Joy Mosby, siblings Melody Mosby Jenkins and Vatrina Mosby that have encouraged me and inspired me along the way. I really wouldn’t want to specifically start naming individuals because I know I would forget somebody. I do want to say in general, I am forever grateful for the individuals that are currently in my life and the ones God has sent for certain seasons in my life. If it wasn’t for you all, I wouldn’t be where I am. Humble beginnings is what started everything. God can take little things and transform them into big things. I don’t take this calling lightly because there’s a master plan behind it. I love you all. To my group, Friends, the work and effort you put in doesn’t go unnoticed; your continued sacrifice to the body of Christ is not unseen. Continue to let your light shine bright. God is getting ready to perform a great work. Just believe and stand strong on His word.
