We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Hines and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business stemmed from a desire to supplement my 9-to-5 income by utilizing the talents and skills I already knew I possessed. I’ve always been drawn to film, music, and basketball since I was a young child. Expressing myself through these mediums and connecting with others through videography, cinematography, photography, music, and mentoring young athletes became the perfect way for me to give back.

When it came to videography, cinematography, and photography, my wife and I started by shooting music videos, including videos for my own music. This interest eventually pivoted into capturing weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, quinceañeras, and proposals. Now, we’ve reached a point where we feel confident shooting just about anything—photo or video. It’s incredibly rewarding to not only tell my own story through music but also to preserve others’ stories and memories in ways that reflect their emotions and milestones.

Making music is a form of therapy and self-expression for me. Choosing to pursue music wasn’t just about creating songs—it was about sharing my journey, my soul, and the ups and downs of life to inspire or motivate anyone who is willing to listen or can relate. As someone naturally reserved, music allows me to step out of my shell and connect with people on a deeper level.

Basketball training through my GWSW Fitness business was born out of my love for the game. Having played all the way up to the professional level, I’ve developed a solid understanding of the fundamentals and wanted to pass that knowledge on to the younger generation. My goal is to help instill discipline and confidence in young athletes.

At the core of balancing all these ventures is my belief that I can build something meaningful, make a living by fully utilizing my own talents and gifts, and leave a legacy for my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is all about storytelling—whether through the lens of my camera or the lyrics of my songs. As a cinematographer and videographer with d-ION Productions, I specialize in capturing emotions and crafting visuals that deeply resonate with people. From weddings to creative music videos, my goal is to preserve moments and tell stories that feel authentic and impactful. On the other side of my creative journey, my hip-hop music serves as a platform where, in a nutshell, I share my personal experiences and reflect on life, its struggles, and its victories.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine both art forms. My background in music helps me bring a rhythmic and emotional flow to my visuals, while my videography expertise allows me to create cinematic music videos that feel immersive. I love blending visuals and sound to craft cohesive stories—whether it’s helping a couple relive their wedding day or using my lyrics to inspire and connect with others.

Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy, and I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go. Starting d-ION Productions with my wife meant building something from scratch, learning the ins and outs of videography and cinematography, and figuring out how to stand out in a competitive field. In my music career, the challenge has been staying consistent and authentic in a world that often values trends over substance. As a lyricist, I’m always focused on pushing the limits of my pen, not necessarily chasing popularity.

To overcome these challenges, I’ve leaned on faith, persistence, and the support of my family—especially my wife, who has been my biggest cheerleader and partner in everything. I’ve also learned to embrace failure as a stepping stone, using every setback as an opportunity to grow and refine my craft.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to not focus solely on an end result but to simply put in the work. It’s about showing up daily, staying true to who you are, and embracing the journey. Every day offers a chance to learn and grow.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I do—whether filming, editing, or writing lyrics—comes from a place of passion and purpose. d-ION Productions is more than just a videography company; it’s a reflection of the stories that inspire us all. My music is more than just songs; it’s my soul laid bare, seeking to connect with others who’ve walked similar paths.

Ultimately, my mission is to inspire and uplift others through my art, showing them that their stories and voices matter.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I have a family and a 3-year-old, most of my “fun” time is spent at home or at parks, trying to tire my kid out. If I’m not there, I’m probably at a family member’s house. I’ve never been the type to go out all the time, but Houston does have a lot of great restaurants. If I were showing a friend around, I’d probably take them to brunch because I love breakfast. We might hit up Dish Society or another spot with amazing breakfast options.

After that, my idea of fun revolves around the things I’m passionate about—basketball, filming/editing, and music. So, we’d probably find a place to hoop, like 24 Hour Fitness. We might also spend some time recording music at my house and maybe even shoot some content for a project.

I’ll admit, I’m pretty laid-back, so we might just end the day catching a Rockets, Texans, or Astros game.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This would most definitely be my wife. I want to dedicate my shoutout to my wife, Nitres Hines. She has been my biggest supporter and partner through every step of my journey. From building d-ION Productions to pursuing my music and basketball training careers, she has been there—not just as my wife, but as my business partner, sounding board, therapist, co-parent, and friend. She’s featured on my songs, shoots with me at events and music videos, and even helps out during my training sessions. I couldn’t balance all of this without her.

Her unwavering belief in me pushes me to keep striving for greatness. She handles so much behind the scenes—managing our home, raising our kids, and contributing to creative decisions. She has a gift for balancing family life while keeping me grounded and focused on my goals.

Her encouragement and ability to see the big picture have been instrumental to any success we’ve achieved. Her love, patience, and dedication keep me sane and ensure that this train keeps moving, even if it’s sometimes in slow motion. This isn’t just my journey; it’s ours, and I’m endlessly grateful to have her by my side.
