We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeruanna Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeruanna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to be successful! Of course, you can’t start off successful without hard work. I started with a business plan. I made sure I researched and gathered information to narrow down what target market I wanted, what product I knew people wanted/needed and sourced materials and vendors that also kept startup cost within budget.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a fashion and graphic designer, what sets me apart is simplicity. I love creating designs that speak loudly without too much going on. I also love to wear clothing of the same stature. Classic pieces combined with trending pieces are always the best way to go. I got where I am professionally because of a great support system behind me such as my husband and my mother. They always cheered me on and provided me with mental stability and help whenever I needed them. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to never think that you can control the outcome of what happens in your life. You will never know what happens unless you just try it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is full of some of the best restaurants! We would eat a different kind of food each day, starting with Mexican at Pappasitos then Japanese at Akashi, then Korean and ending with some all American burgers. My favorite Houston restaurant to drink is Eddie V’s. They also have the best happy hour lounge and oysters. For something more casual we would check out Twin Peaks wings and cold beer, then we would explore and shop the city center shopping center. The night would end with a great movie at Studio Movie Grill with their mouth watering brownie and ice cream dish!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband deserves all the gratitude in the world! Without him pushing me and helping me to start and run my business successfully I probably wouldn’t be in the position that I’m in. His support in helping me maintain my mental stability and always giving me the backbone I needed to push forward has been the greatest gift.
