We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesse, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I personally feel that in life we are either pushed by society in a way that makes us end up like everyone else leading a normal life or that we are pushed by our dreams & goals into being who we really want to be. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with leading a normal life but it’s never really interested me and I was always more drawn to the possibilities of what could be and the road less traveled so to speak. this is what ultimately made me get into photography/videography cause there’s so much freedom & creativity within it that the capabilities are endless.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really enjoy the idea of what it means to shoot photos/videos because to me it’s capturing specific moments in time that we may not be too lucky to see happen again but at least we are able to look back on the ones we did capture & i think it’s important to have some important memories that made us happy to be able to look back on. Throughout my life I’ve always had a good amount of obstacles I’ve gone through whether it was financially or mentally & whenever I felt down in life I would usually just try to resort doing the things I enjoyed most in life so that I could keep busy & for a while now those things have consisted of photography/videography. I’m not sure what it is exactly but there’s been something inside of me that tells me to keep going & to keep doing what I’m doing & that eventually it’ll get me to where I need to be in life so that’s what I’m doing. I’m learning more about these creative outlets every day so that I can progress at what I do & so that I can create more & more content to make people satisfied with their outcomes. I’m not too sure what sets me apart from others exactly cause I don’t really care to think about that stuff, I feel like everyone is just doing their own things and I think that’s cool, everyone is unique in their own ways & I respect that, no one is better than anyone else and we’re all just doing what we love so there’s no need to compare one another.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel like everyone is different in their own way so first I would probably want to find out their preferences such as what they like to eat or drink, do they prefer nature better or would they rather want to stay in the city and then once I get an idea of what they like then I could come up with a few spots/places cause there’s a lot of cool ones out here.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to take the time to say thanks to all of the friends & family that are in my life who have always tried to push me to do better and have only wanted what’s best for me in life, usually I would shout them out name by name but there’s so many & I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out but you guys know who you are & I’m very grateful for y’all 🖤
