We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Gayosso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jocelyn, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Hello, everyone! I’m Jocelyn Gayosso, and I’m currently 28 years old. My journey began in sunny Miami, Florida, and at the tender age of 2, I relocated to Houston, where I’ve spent the majority of my life, particularly in Southeast Houston, now known as EADO. These days, Conroe, Texas, is my home, where I reside with my husband, Paul, and our five furry companions, named Bailey, Apollo, Willie, Rocky, and Bagherra.

Looking back on my childhood, I fondly remember my father’s unwavering entrepreneurial spirit. He managed his own construction company, while my mother dedicated herself to caring for me and my siblings. Our parents were also proprietors of an apartment complex. Their commitment to providing us with the best possible education greatly influenced my future career choices. Consequently, at the age of 18, I embarked on my journey as an insurance agent, dedicating myself to rigorous studies to obtain my state insurance licenses. To this day, I’m proud to serve as an insurance agent with Allstate.

One invaluable lesson instilled in me from an early age was the importance of lifelong learning. This mindset has propelled me forward, inspiring me to pursue ongoing education. I’m currently on the verge of completing my bachelor’s degree in Business Management at UHD, with aspirations to continue my academic journey with a Master’s in the same field. Additionally, I’ve embraced the exciting challenge of learning a third language, French.

My photography journey began six years ago purely for the joy of it, with no grand expectations. However, with the unwavering support of my husband and loved ones, I felt motivated to transform this passion into a successful venture, leading to the launch of my photography and photo booth business. This experience has significantly altered my perspective on my career and opened up new horizons for me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As I mentioned earlier, my journey began six years ago, and it has been a rollercoaster ride filled with numerous highs and lows. What distinguishes me from others is my dual nature – I’m naturally a cheerful, goofy person who loves laughter, but I also possess a strong sense of seriousness, especially when it comes to my career. I take my professional endeavors very seriously to ensure everything runs smoothly. I take immense pride in how far I’ve come in the past six years. There were many moments when I contemplated giving up and selling everything, but each time, I reminded myself that I am not a quitter, and I refused to become one.

In the realm of business, it demands an abundance of learning, dedication, marketing efforts, and unyielding persistence. It’s unquestionably a challenging path to tread. Every day requires unwavering commitment to one’s dreams, and there’s no set time for when you can put in the work for your business. If you aspire to succeed, you must consistently invest effort into it.

Over the years, I’ve gathered a wealth of wisdom. I’ve learned never to give up and to keep striving for improvement. Additionally, I’ve mastered the art of pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. Marketing has emerged as one of my most significant lessons; continuous self-promotion, offering free photo sessions and event coverage, active presence on various social media platforms, and forging connections with venues and small business owners have all been vital aspects of my journey. I firmly believe in going above and beyond to attain what you desire.

What I’d like everyone to take away from my experience is the importance of perseverance, of consistently showing up, and of relentlessly pursuing a better life and future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Planning a week-long itinerary can be a bit tricky where I am currently, but if I had to pick a favorite spot, it would definitely be The Woodlands. This area has so much to offer, with plenty of cafes and brunch spots like North Italia for a great start to your day. You can also do some shopping at The Woodland Mall and the nearby stores, and then relax in the afternoon at the Riva Row Boat House or take a leisurely stroll along The Woodlands Waterway. For dinner, consider checking out Goose’s Acre Bristo & Irish Pub for a nice meal.

Market Street is another fantastic place to explore. You can shop at various boutiques, grab a coffee at Starbucks, and have a delicious lunch at Sweet Paris. Plus, if you’re into live performances and concerts, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, just across the street, often hosts events worth checking out. And when it’s time for dinner, Xalisco is a great option for some authentic flavors.

In summary, The Woodlands has a lot to offer for a week-long getaway, from charming cafes and shopping to outdoor activities and a diverse culinary scene. Each day can be filled with new experiences and memorable moments, making your visit truly special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be completely honest, there are a select few individuals who have had a profound impact on my journey…

Let’s start with my best friend, the one who initially introduced me to the world of photography. He roped me into his photography ventures, designating me as his “assistant,” and handed me a camera to dive right in. He didn’t just teach me the basics of photography; he patiently walked me through every intricate detail about the camera. Even today, whenever I encounter challenges or harbor curiosity about photography intricacies, he remains my go-to source for valuable advice.

Then there’s my husband. He’s the one who encouraged me to shift my focus from photographing cars to capturing people. From day one, he’s been the driving force behind pushing me out of my comfort zone. He’s my perpetual motivator, always cheering me on to pursue my dreams and reach higher. To be frank, I owe a great deal to his unwavering belief in me – without his support, I might not be on this path pursuing my passion.

My sister also holds a special place of influence. Her journey began as a model during a photoshoot in Austin, and ever since that experience, she’s been my reliable “go-for-it” supporter. I trust her judgment implicitly because I know she’ll provide honest opinions, always substantiated with reasons. She’s an inspiration, even if she doesn’t fully realize it.

Lastly, my parents – even though they have passed away, their wisdom continues to illuminate my path. They ingrained in me the importance of being a good person and assured me that by adhering to that principle, good things would come my way. I’ve steadfastly followed their advice, and I can genuinely affirm that it has led to positive developments in my life thus far.
