We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Straubinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jocelyn, what role does tech play in your business?
Tech plays a major role in my business. I’m a wardrobe consultant that focuses on styling others through virtual settings. People lead busy lives and especially during these interesting times we’re living through, how convenient is it to have someone help you plan outfits from your wardrobe or put together looks from different brands & designers sent straight to you digitally – whether through text or your inbox. Styling services like Wishi have tapped into that market and make it so easy to connect stylists & clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Two years ago I took a major plunge and started my styling career – something I had only dreamed about since I was a teen. Since then, the opportunities have been incredible and it’s been because of the support of others. I’m proud I can offer my services & knowledge to help others achieve their fashion & wardrobe goals no matter their age, budget or lifestyle. Seeing them rock their looks and feel their absolute best is an awesome feeling. It’s really cool getting to build these relationships and apart from the clothing, getting to connect on personal levels. It has been a scary yet fulfilling experience and honestly couldn’t have done it without the constant encouragement from my husband and friends. Nothing worth while comes easy and the key is to never give up, despite the hurdles that come your way. The challenges that come with the territory have at times been crippling but choosing to keep hustling and pushing through only make me a stronger person and keep me motivated.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There’s always something fun to do in Houston! Definitely need to start off the day with coffee – Catalina is one of my favorite shops. Incorporate a light breakfast with coffee at Penny Quarter, a great atmosphere that’s dog friendly. When the weathers nice, a picnic in the park at the Menil is always fun and afterwards getting to check out cool art. Our favorites places for dinner are Nobie’s, a quaint neighborhood restaurant with a delicious menu and fantastic service. The Chef’s Table at State of Grace is a guaranteed good time getting a customized 7 course meal and interacting with the chefs as they prepare your meals. For a more casual dinner, El Tiempo is our favorite place for the best Tex Mex in town. Cap the night with a movie screening overlooking downtown at Rooftop Cinema or checking out a show at any of the venues around town like White Oak Music Hall, Jones Hall, Wortham Theater etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a major shout out to an amazing small business and one of my favorite Houston boutiques – French Cuff Boutique! They cater to an array of ages, styles and carry incredible brands. Personally, it’s been a great learning experience that has helped immensely in my styling career through their leadership, fashion knowledge & working with their clients.
