We had the good fortune of connecting with John Barajas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been customer service. We live in a time where a bad review or experience can instantly impact growth and the reputation of how far you’ll make it in any given industry. Personal, I want to make sure all concerns are heard and there’s constant communication from the beginning of booking me and throughout the year to guarantee satisfaction. I’ve learned that talent can only take you so far and people want to work with those who they can connect with on a personal level.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With choreography, I’m constantly traveling throughout the United States working with various teams and programs to provide their routines for the competitive season. I work very organically, I try to know very little about the athletes I’m working with so everything is smooth from start to finish. I want to know the kids by name, figure out their energy, personalities, skill level. than I start puzzle piecing together.
I started coaching about thirteen years ago from one of my mothers friends who gave me my start. I learned from watching and YouTube. I always did my own routines- in the beginning looking back I had no idea what I was doing. Just like everything in life its trial and error. I became a business in 2016 and that’s when the magic of my style became solid to what it is now. My journey was anything from easy and the cheer industry is aggressive on all platforms but I never wanted to overstep anyone but let my talent speak for itself.
Our business motto is “just what you need” and that’s because I believe my services are completely customized to each individual group that personal and allows their talents to be highlighted.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a midwestern and knew to the area but some of my spots that have become favorites obviously “Whataburger” great for any day of the week. “Gyro Republic” is another great spot for lunch. Drinks we are going to the “Ice House”, “Yard House”, or if we are going to hit the streets but “Hamburger Mary’s” is the place.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is direct for my family that have been my biggest supporters from the start in all my life endeavors and allowing me to be my authentic self. Next would be my current gym owners. they’ve helped me find my spark again in this industry to continue coaching.
