We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny Thai and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johnny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being our own boss not only gives decisions freedom, it also drives us to push harder everyday. I always hated the fact that i have to be under pressure over someone ways of things, most of the time it’s driven by personal perspective and experiences. Ever since going on my own, i have more freedom to be as creative as i can be, and a lot more room to manage personal time with my family. For consumers, I strongly believed that it’s the only recipe for pure authentic quality results and services. My personal recommendation to all the people that have strong passion and dreams, going solo and build your dream is the best way to go!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a hair stylist and colorist like many others, but what sets me apart is how much pride i have in my work. Compassion, Honesty, Dignity, resonates in my genuine personality and work, even though pleasing everybody is almost impossible. Keep trying until you make it, is always my way of thinking. Nothing is perfect in life, but if you keep going at it, you’ll be better than most.
I was completely lost during my early years as a hairstylist, until i founded social medias. Getting to see the big world out there with so many opened minded and extremely talented stylists, its changed my world over night. At last, the bad things that i went through will always be a positive life and career lessons. If life can’t teach you what to do, its can always teach you what’s not to do. Through all the early years of learning what’s not to do, it’s a strong foundation to pursued my dream as a solo hair artist.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to eat and explore. Houston Alief or Bellaire area is where i preferred to go for asian food and drinks, highly recommended. In Bellaire thers Pho Tran is my favorite place to eat authentic Vietnamese beef soup with noodels, Lem’s Kitchen is my go to for varieties of authentic vietnamese good tasting dishes, Tony Thai for Thai’s food, Fufu and Mein for Chinese, Handam for Korean BBQ, Pho Ga Dakao, Thuan Kieu, if you want to just explore Vietnamese food in general . When it comes to drinks and deserts, highly recommend Jtea, Mia, Snowy Village, Chungchun. There are so much more and coming soon of asian food, deserts, and drinks restaurants, you just can’t go wrong!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to generally give thank to the people with positive thinking, and keep sending out positive vibes to people thats seeking for your personal opinions and guidance.
