We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Winfiele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I love this question. This is something I have mentored my two children on, which is be a sponge and learn all aspects of your profession and go beyond. When I started my career, I was blessed with work with a Japanese firm which required you to learn all aspects of the business e.g. accounting, sales, logistics, distribution, credit, contract management, purchasing, etc. This enable me in my IT and consulting career to understanding how end to end process and system work together. We as Americans have a tendency to focus on one single department or process only in one’s career. My son just graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor in Architecture, and I tell him after he gets his Masters degree and goes on to the work world learn all things around your profession e.g. landscaping, air conditioning, heating (HVAC), construction, etc. because it helps you become better in understanding the bigger picture.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This s what sets Concentric3 apart: Most technology consultants offer you solutions. But at Concentric3, we solve your problem. There’s a difference. While typical IT companies may know technology, they don’t know business. We know both, so we can find better ways for IT to help you increase revenue and reduce your costs. We don’t do it by selling you a prepackaged, one-size-fits-all “solution”, either. Instead, we attach technology to your business strategy, objectively analyzing where your IT is and where you want it to take you; creating and executing a plan to get there; and validating the results. In other words, Concentric3 doesn’t do business the “consultant way”. We do it the customer way. I am proud of how we have solved every one of our clients needs by helping strategically, helping in project management, as well solving the clients technical needs. We truly live up to our trade mark: Transforming technology problems into business assets.® We got here by hard work and dedication, it was not easy by God is great and opens the right doors in the right time. Challenges are always constant in life, you overcome one mountain there is always a next one, you just have to keep climbing and taking the right steps day by day. What I want the world to know about our story is that we don’t sell you the same solution – just about every technology company in the industry sells. We actually solve the problem. And we do it not by talking like an IT consultant. We do it by thinking like a business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We first of all, I am a Texas A&M Aggie – so we would travel to College Station see my team play, otherwise go see the Astros play in Houston. Definitely would take him to many restaurants here in Houston, to many great restaurants to choose from would depend on what one was craving since Houston is so diverse. Entertainment besides sports games, I would take him to Rice University area, NASA, and down to see Historic Galveston.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shootout to my dad, who passed away in 2015. He was my Solomon in my life, always having the right answer to every question. He always devoted and sacrificed himself for his family. He was a Korean veteran who never had a chance to finish his college degree but always pushed me to completed everything from becoming an Eagle Scout, playing football, my higher education at Texas A&M University, and helping me in my career, and mostly just always being there with the right advice. I was blessed to have a father like my dad.
