We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Dynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has gone from a happy medium to work is my life. Back when I worked a traditional 9-5 once the clock hit 5pm any issues/ task were no the next days problem. Now that I work for myself I can no longer have that attitude as I truly care for each one of my clients and want them to have the absolute best experience they can working with me. This has cause my work life balance to change as I am now answering emails at 11pm, scheduling calls on my “off days” to make things easier for the client, and will work for weeks at a time with no breaks just to name a few things. It is a little challenging as I have a family (wife & 2 dogs) . Trying to find that balance between providing the best possible experience while also not sacrificing the time I have with my family has been difficult but I believe it has been getting better over time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Jdynes productions has been around since 2018 once living under a different name. It wasn’t until 2021 that I decided to put the business out there and get serious about it. The main driving factor that sets us apart is the drive to provide the absolute best experience. Weddings are super stressful and I don’t want my company to add more stress to the couple and family. I am extremely flexable and understand that things happen, so instead of having a business mindset at the sacrifice of client experience I take a compassionate approach. This has gotten me to where I am today as many of my clients come to me because of the compassion first mindset. It provides a peace of mind knowing that if anything were to happen they are supported.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being in Houston there are a ton of things to do but there are a few things that are a must do when down here. 1. The Houston rodeo
2. Go to an Astros game
3. Either typhoon Texas or Schlitterbahn waterpark
4. Definitely have to stop at clutch city cluckers for food
5. A tour of the wonderful world of 610 by the galleria after 5. (kidding)
6. Midtown/ Discovery green

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Id like to add everyone I know as they have all contributed to my success and getting me here however my mom and fiancé have been the 2 people who have been the most influential in this journey. My mom took a big risk and let me put my first professional camera purchase on her credit (and pay her back with no interest). I still use this camera today as my main workhorse and without that it would not be possible to be where I am today. That is the financial portion that she helped me with however she has always been super supportive of me and is always there to provide encouragement, advice, or even just an open ear. Id also like to shoutout my fiancé as she supported me making the jump from working for someone else to working for myself. Even though she new it was a risk and that we had bills to pay she knew that this transition would make me happy and that it was something that I truly wanted to do. She even still supports me as even though this isn’t her company she is fully involved and will step into help whenever she can even if she has had a long week at work.
