We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Pesek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in huntsville Texas with my parents, and my older brother. My dad was a truck driver, and my mom worked office jobs for different state institutions. Although my parents liked their jobs, I knew they’d be happier doing something else. They did what was needed for us to grow up with everything we could need or want. My mom was always very artsy, and I knew that I wanted to explore that side of myself. I told her at a very young age that I would never work a boring office job where people told me what to wear, I wanted a cool job like an artist or something. Here I am! I’m an artist following the dreams of that young girl.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started at a small family based salon in Huntsville. The women that worked there helped me to build clients and taught me so much. They encouraged me to grow. After Covid-19 quarantine was lifted, I decided I wanted to further my career by moving into my own studio in the woodlands. My clientele suffered from the move, along with Covid. After 6 months I moved to my current salon, Southern Tangles in Conroe. Since being there my business has flourished from having all the love and support from coworkers, family, and old clients that I happily welcomed back! My clientele continues to grow and I meet amazing new people every day!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents were very supportive of me becoming a hairstylist after I started school and showed passion and natural talent for cosmetology. I had great cosmetology teachers who also encouraged me so much. From letting me ask as many questions that I could possible think of, to allowing me as many clients that would let me touch their hair. The rest of my friends and family were also very supportive of me by letting me practice on them, and being my models for shows.
