We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordyn Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is, without a doubt, the Holy Spirit. He is a creative and inspirational force, guiding me to innovate and communicate in ways that resonate profoundly at the right time and place. I consider myself merely a vessel for these ideas, which originate from a higher understanding of human needs. This spiritual guidance doesn’t just stop at idea generation; it extends to the execution of these ideas with a spirit of excellence. I invest my whole self in my brands and the solutions I offer, ensuring that nothing is done haphazardly. Every step involves deep discovery, thoughtful consideration, and genuine partnership with those I serve. This approach, driven by spiritual insight and a commitment to excellence, is a common thread across all my business ventures and every idea I’ve brought to life. It’s this blend of divine inspiration and meticulous execution that truly sets my work apart.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My current focus is on two ventures: id8 by design and the colllective. Id8 by design is a boutique consulting firm that operates at the intersection of research, strategy, and creativity. We partner with both public and private entities to craft innovative solutions. The colllective is a Christian discipleship ecosystem, a deeply meaningful project for me. Alongside these, I have a passion project, Made Manifest, rooted in my love for lifelong learning. It’s about integrating insights from various fields, underpinned by the Word of God, to empower others in their personal and professional lives.
What sets my businesses apart is their foundation in both heart and mind. They’re not just intellectual exercises; they’re extensions of my passion for people and helping them achieve their fullest potential. This reflects in each venture, whether it’s connecting people, fostering learning, or empowering personal growth. It’s a trait I inherited from my mother, a dedicated educator of 29 years. Teaching and educating is in my DNA, and this ethos is evident in every business I create.
Embracing this innate drive to educate has enabled me to develop brands that, while distinct in their offerings and audiences, share a common goal: to create better individuals for a better future. My radical commitment to seeing Jesus’ plan for His people materialize drives this mission.
My journey in business has been a journey of personal evolution. Entrepreneurship is more about heart work than hard work. It’s about allowing life to unfold and learning at every stage. The business I started at 17 was perfect for that age, but now, at 24, my depth of experience, foresight, discernment, and life understanding have grown. In essence, being a lifelong student has propelled me to where I am today.
I’ve learned to embrace every learning opportunity, integrating insights from all life aspects to become a better businesswoman and person. But most importantly, it’s the unquenchable spirit of dreaming that’s brought me here. No matter where I am in life, I always see potential — ideas where there seem to be none, and structure where there’s chaos. This vision, this unique wiring by God, is what drives me and my ventures forward.
I want people to see my story as a beacon of what’s possible when you align your professional aspirations with your spiritual calling. It’s about harnessing your unique gifts, like my ability to envision and educate, to make a real difference.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must give due honor to the mentors who’ve played pivotal roles at various points in my life, whether through direct conversations or by setting an example with their own success. Individuals like my aunt Xraka White, Roderick Thorton, Sonia, Natalie, Marie Hunter, Imelda Alejandro, and Marlena Strong, among many others, have been key in my journey. Their influence has been crucial as I evolve into a dynamic presence in business, the Kingdom of God, and my personal spheres of influence. I am who I am because of their guidance and wisdom.
Equally important are my friends, whose kindness and patience have been a constant source of strength. They’ve always seen the best in me, even when I couldn’t. Their support during my lowest moments has been like a beacon in the darkness. Their words, which I liken to seeds, and their faithfulness, like water, have been instrumental in my ongoing growth and flourishing.
Lastly, I must acknowledge God, for Divinely placing these incredible people into my life. Their collective insights, encouragement, and backing have been fundamental in both my professional and personal growth, shaping me into the person I am today.
