We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorge Peña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorge, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I am a risk taker. I left the security of a paycheck back in March to open upown bodyshop, all this during the COVID 19 crisis. Many people called me an idiot for leaving my job while the economy was down. I credit risk-taking to where i am at today. Some of the greatest achievers were/are risk-takers. Playing it safe is just not in me. I have many goals, but to achieve them, i have to be willing to risk it all. So far it has paid off. Starting from scratch l, not knowing when my next paycheck will come, surely is an adrenaline rush. But i love it. Cheers to all the risk-takers and small business owners out there.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started working in cars at the age of 18. After learning how to do bodywork and collision repair, i learned the art of spraying. I left the car industry in 2013 to work on RVs. It was there that began doing custom paint. Creating art in motor homes, cars, motorcycles and musical instruments relaxes me. It is my passion. Nothing ever comes easy, specially now that i’m a business owner. I will learn from the mistakes i make. If you really want to get somewhere in life, you have to work for it. There are no hand-outs in life.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I would definetly take them to different taco stands and taco trucks throughout the city. Also i would take them trail riding on MTBs to The Anthills or Memorial Park. If something fancy needs to happen, then The Spindletop or Z on 23 Downtown would be the go to spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout goes out to my little princess. My daughter. It is because of her that i take the risks i take to provide her a better future.
