We had the good fortune of connecting with Jr Saucedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jr, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the people around me and how they pursue their goals and are motivated to find success. It makes me want to have the same dedication and work ethic to pursue my goals and create a path to success. I’m still growing into my business and using my inspiration as motivation to keep working in hopes of reaching new heights and exposure that will be beneficial for the future.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As I’m still somewhat new to the photography game, I am finding new and different ways to express my perspective as well as display uniqueness. I’m still not set on one specific style of photography and that diversity is expanding my artistic range. The versatility that I am growing alongside my perspective demonstrated in my art is what can set me apart from someone else as well as my eagerness to grow further in developing my skill. The road to reach a specific goal is never easy but the experience alongside the journey is truly fantastic. Despite the ups and downs, the path to get where I am today is something that I treasure and use as self-motivation to not slow down but instead try to reach the further beyond. Perseverance alongside trial and error is how I handled a lot of challenges as well as having an open mind to receive critique and applying it as I proceeded on this quest to enrich my art. I just want the readers to know that I won’t be slowing down but instead pushing myself to find new and unique ways to display my viewpoint through my photographs.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely start by going downtown during the afternoon and enjoying the city when the sun is setting, riding some bikes and looking for new places to photograph. Montrose and The Heights would be the next stop on that night as they have plentiful of spots to just grab a bite, order a drink and vibe. Visiting Hermann park is also a must with its vast land that hosts a multitude of events and attractions to visit. Afterwards, the museum district is nearby as well and showcasing Houston heritage alongside the diversity of the city with its cultures displayed on multiple museums. Discovery green is another park to visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery during the day and traveling to the Space station is also a treat and a must-do because space is dope. There will be other locations I would show them as well but they are more spots I have found where you can view different settings and let your perspective define what you see.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Just everybody that I surround myself in my close circle has helped me reached this level and has been key in my determination for growth. My cousins Cesar and Miguel have also helped me continue developing my craft as they are also photographers and we are constantly just finding new ways to improve and do our best to help each other keep moving forward in our creative hobby.
