We had the good fortune of connecting with K.O.S. (Kings of Sound) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi K.O.S. (Kings of Sound), is there something you believe many others might not?
For us, it’s the idea of following trends—we’re not about that. We know it’s important to understand the market and what’s hot with fans in general, but copying a popular blueprint only drops you in a bucket with a ton of other artists in an already over saturated market. We want to bring something different and create longevity, and that separates us from everything else. And we also want to offer a different perspective from current stereotypes of young Black men. That’s not to say our music and style isn’t current because it is. But we wanna do current music that’s purely and uniquely us. Plus we’re students of music and hip hop and we hope that can be heard. We’re still young and we’re just getting better and better each day, growing into our sound. But we know that any success we’ve had has been because we have moved in our own lane.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’re entertainers known for our energetic stage performances, positive imagery, with no negativity and we respect the ladies. We write all our music. We’re pushing the envelope at times, but we know how we want to present ourselves to fans. We enjoy being creative and trying new things. We’ve also done some modeling as well as acting and hope to do more. Essentially, we enjoy sharing ourselves with fans and making people happy. There’s no better feeling, it’s just dope. We recently signed a distribution agreement with Eric B Music Group. EBMG praised us for “putting fun back into music” and for our positive image.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Turkey Leg Hut hands down. And anywhere we have mic in our hands. Lol Houston music is a vibe all its own so we’d catch local artists in action. We’re athletes so we definitely like to catch the games and sporting events.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many because we’ve been blessed with a lot of support. But to name a few, shout out to: Peter Piper & Monica Riley (Radical Rileys) w/953Jamz, Derrick McKinney w/Loud Music, Eric B Music Group, Nicole Thompson w/Bad & Boujee Ent, Jones The General w/Flamehouse, Stackz & Sabrina the Model,  Soup & Lola Show, KalaniOnDaBeat, Tishany Tishany
