We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaala Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaala, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Styling comes naturally to me. My mother, grandmother, sisters, aunts, and cousins all had a profound impact on the way I admire and create beauty. Whether we spent a day at the mall perusing department stores, or shopping for home decor, I was all in with eyes wide open.

As I matured and got more in tune with my passions, I realized that what comes naturally to me does not come so naturally to others. Once I understood that I was a solution to a problem, I was ready to work! People pay for luxuries and conveniences, so who am I not to help?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is inspired by the beauty of nature, the beauty of life, and the people I serve as a stylist. My confidence and resourcefulness set me apart from others. That is why I can say that a person, home, commercial space, or Christmas tree styled By Kā.Jā will be #AlwaysAestheticallyPleasing.

I go to great lengths to ensure that both my clients and I are satisfied with the final product. Ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction comes at a cost. It is challenging and humbling. Viewing every experience as a learning opportunity and keeping open lines of communication with clients are the keys to professional growth.

I have overcome challenges by accepting critique, apologizing, and absorbing displeasures for the sake of a satisfied client. I have also dedicated myself to being a lifelong student via research and education. I want the world to know that By Kā.Jā is here to serve. I am passionate about beautiful aesthetics and would love to share that passion through my services.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the sights and scenes of Houston, Texas. If I had a full week, a personal chauffeur, and the endless energy needed to show a friend the best time ever, I would have to show my friend these places:

Morning Meditation & fitness – McGovern Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park orEleanor Tinsley Park. Bike rides through downtown and River Oaks.
Brunch – The Annie, Grace’s, A’Bouzy, 51 Fifteen, and Dish Society
Shopping – The Galleria, Kuhl Linscomb, Rice Village, and wayyy down to Baybrook Mall.
Chill Experiences – The Menil Collection and Contemporary Arts Museum. Davidoff Geneva and Stogies. The Flat and Bar Boheme.
Dinner – Pappas Brothers Steakhouse. Eloise Nichols. Lucille’s. Nancy’s Hustle, and Liberty Kitchen
After dinner – Scott Gertner’s Rhythm Room, The Spot – EaDo, Miss Carousel, Downing Street at Five Central, Bisou, and the Davenport
Late Night Dining – Mai’s Vietnamese Restaurant, Dot Coffee Shop, and Waffle House

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am extremely blessed to have the love and support of family, friends, and associates. My mother is and will always be my number one supporter! I inherited my love for personal style, home style, and Christmas directly from her.

There are people in my life who encouraged me to get started (Ian), people who gave me the blueprint when I took my first steps (Mrs. Dwonia, Cynthia, and Jazzlin), people who ALWAYS put their full faith in my services (Leah and Chloe), people who consistently repost my content on social media (Armena, Kendra, Bria, and Giavanna), and those who support me with their words, referrals, and business. My shoutout is dedicated to my entire village.
