We had the good fortune of connecting with Kahila Hedayatzadeh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kahila, what do you attribute your success to?
Tenacity. The journey to success, regardless of the goal, will require certain determination, persistence, and a clear vision of your purpose. The path is never easy, but when you have a clear vision of how this goal will change not only your own life but also the life of those people you come in contact with you will continue to move through the challenges and the discomfort without hesitation. The end goal is always greater than the presenting challenges. I have continued to remain true to who I am and why I started a nontraditional practice. I am a therapist, however, I focus on coaching my clients using a multidisciplinary approach because it allows me to help my clients in a nonconforming manner and has proven to be extremely successful for all my clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a trained psychotherapist/Coach and the founder of Thriving Woman™. What sets me apart is my passion, dedication, and belief in changing the way women see themselves in this world. Being a multi-cultural woman I have a deep understanding of the demands placed on women from cultural, and societal stand-point. Oftentimes, these beliefs hold women back from truly being able to live a life based on personal values. The shame, guilt, and blame placed on women are more damaging than ever before. My mission and purpose in this life is to free as many women as I can from these limiting beliefs forced upon our lives so that we can actually thrive in ALL areas of life. The reason why I chose to walk away from the traditional practice of therapy is that I don’t believe in conformity, and wanted to create a program that was focused on women living a healthier, happier, more fulfilled life. Was an easy decision, yes, because I followed my heart. Was it received well, no, because the most common belief is that therapists shouldn’t become coaches… we were educated to be therapists. And I believe that my education doesn’t limit how I want to show up in this life and how I want to help others heal, grow, and thrive. It enhances my path. So my advice would be to pave your own way. People will always have something to say… shake it off and keep on moving.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course, this is based on a world after covid… This is in no particular order, just musts on my list. There would be a lot of eating because the food in San Diego is divine. We’d go dancing in Downtown/Gaslamp a few times Hike Torrey Pines Drive PCH 101 (coastal drive) stopping in Del Mar and Encinitas (great healthy food options and beautiful towns) Try one of the Italian restaurants in Little Italy and grab Salt Straw ice cream as we walk around after dinner Mexican food. That’s it. Just Mexican Food. Walking off all the food from the week as we explore Balboa Park. Ride the ferry from Downtown Pier over to Coronado, renting bicycles, and riding down to the Hotel Del Coronado for a drink while we soak in the beauty of San Diego sunsets.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will forever consider my mom to be the most influential human being in my life. She was a mentor while she was alive, and is still a huge influence in my personal and professional life.
