We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlyn Le and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaitlyn, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I believe that a work life balance is a myth. It is a myth that there is an existence of the perfect spot where everything fall into their places. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in having-it-all, but just not at the same time. I can only balance so much at the once . For instance, when I am killing at my day job at a “fun engineer” at Revelry Goods, I have to delay working on the next personal business projects . Or when my floral business Flaven is in demand, my studio cleaning has to be postponed to another days, which drives me crazy but I have to make some priorities. One thing at a time. That’s how I get things done. Sometimes, the true balance is the peace of mind, knowing things will get done, just not all at the same time.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are Flaven, a Vietnamese-owned, woman-own floral business from Houston. We specialized in custom floral arrangements, gift bouquets, and event decorations, We were lucky enough to have been trained under the guidance of Mrs. Phuong Nguyen from MIBELLAROSA in the begin of our floral journey. The Houston market has welcomed us with open hands and hearts, helping growing our passion into the business it is today. And for that, we are extremely grateful.
Our point of view is that we are the embody of Houston spirit, a mixing pots of all the culture influences from all over the world. We bring our Asian influence to combine with the Wester vibes. We emphasize in being timeless but keeping up with the current trends, due to the flexible nature of our business, we could almost custom made anything that customer request while maintaining our aesthetic,
Being a small local business has its thrill but also lots of challenges. At the moment, We still keep our full-time day jobs in order to support Flaven financially. Working a 9-5 job presents a unique set of challenges like we have to make some peace with the fact sometimes, we cannot leave our jobs to do a Flaven project that required our presences. We have to learn not to compare our growth with my peers or established florist, Being able to feel content with our growth and maintaining our inner peace is our biggest mental goal.
Our commitment is to put our best into our products and let the business grow organically.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love to see my friends success. Their journeys and achievements are my motivations. I want to shoutout to one of my friends Phuong Vu from Vu’s Interiors, a Houston based company that curates, designs and stages real estate properties . Phuong has an impeccable style, an open heart, and a love for working with people. She really has eyes for mixing highs and lows, an important quality to have working with every type of clients. She also a supporter of her friends, I can always count on her support.
