We had the good fortune of connecting with Kam Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kam, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I genuinely love people. I am the person that makes myself accessible to those who reach out. I wanted to start something that aligned with my values and that I could see myself waking up doing everyday.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Life Coach who started my company Say Less Life Coaching LLC. I use the term “Say Less!” in my public speaking background. Whenever I am booked for a speaking engagement I shout out “Say No More!” and in response the crowd shouts back “Say Less!” it is a cool way of interacting with the crowd. Say Less is a phrase to let someone know you understand. My company motto is “Need a life coach? Say Less!” My vision is to help my clients go from underdog to top dog through finding, feeling, and following their dreams. I truly understand what it feels like to be an underdog and overlooked. Due to those feelings of being an underdog it motivated me to change the narrative of my circumstance. The thing that helps me standout from other coaches is that I am unapologetically Black and unapologetically me. I make every coaching session personable and a comfortable environment. I am authentic with my approach and I adjust to all of my clients differently to meet their needs. I am most proud of the results and growth I hear from my clients after a session. I am at an all time high when I help bring clarity and confirmation to my clients. My journey to becoming a Life Coach was truly an adventure to say the least. After obtaining my B.S. in Psychology, I worked in mental health for a few years. I easily had 90+ clients on my case load; working with people diagnosed with major depression disorder, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. My original plan was to go back to school and get my masters degree to become a licensed therapist. I remember starting my masters program and withdrawing after a month. Something in me just did not sit well with going back to school. After working with my job I started feeling depressed for many reasons. A few reasons came from the death of George Floyd,Breanna Taylor, protesting, having to cancel my wedding ceremony due to COVID-19. My wife and I ended up getting married in the living room of our home. On top of the pandemic, my heart was broken when having to attend the funeral of my relative, Jonathan Price who was gunned down by a police officer early October in Wolfe City, TX. I was stuck in my own thoughts and needed something different. I ended up spending months researching and trying to look into something that would be more fulfilling for me. Then God placed Life Coaching on my heart. Ironic enough, as I was registering for my classes in the masters program, Life Coaching kept popping up and I ignored it. A year later I was in Life Coaching school learning new techniques and expanding on mental health tools I already knew. I created my business plan and spent several nights with my wife brainstorming, sharing ideas, and going over finances a thousand times. I prayed and spent plenty of time trying to listen to instruction from God. I received conformation through reflecting on my level of impact on the people around me. I started my LLC and put in my two weeks notice for my job. I realized that my values didn’t align with my job. I was salary based, working remotely from home, and still felt I was working at a job and not a career. I loved working with people but the leadership was poor in the company. I had an entrepreneurial spirit in a structured job setting. The faith that my wife put into me was all I needed to go full throttle towards my purpose and as a result I’m living in it. I didn’t tell family members or friends what I was doing until everything was official. Many people worried about my decision to leave a job in the middle of the pandemic but my faith and my God is bigger than anything 2020 threw at me. I’ve learned that there are far too many people who give up on their dreams because they have responsibilities. To me that is a traditional way of living life. I believe you can take care of responsibilities and follow your dreams at the same time. Maybe you are not in a position to leave your job, but you can use that job to work for your dream. I want the world to know when it comes to your passion you have to truly make it happen. It is time to change your narrative.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
