We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameron Wilkerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kameron, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand and myself is that I never quit and I stayed consistent. I went through several highs and lows and there have been times I’ve had to take breaks but I never quit cooking all together. I’ve gone through almost every emotion you can think of trying to pursue my dreams, but what separates me from others is that I just don’t quit. I just was not raised that way. Also for those wondering I did get that quote from the late great Nipsey Hussle. #TMC

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a chef, a private chef at that. I do cater events but I specialize in private dinners. What sets me apart from other chefs is my content and the consistency of high level content I put out. I put out 3 regular posts a week plus I have a mini series on my food page that I put out each Thursday. Getting to where I’m at today took a lot of perseverance and overcoming obstacles that mostly dealt with my physical and mental health. However, I am very grateful for these obstacles for they have only prepared me for where I am and for what is to come. The biggest lessons I have learned from my experience as a entrepreneurial chef has to be “you can’t move how they move, because they don’t do what you do”, “you have to believe in yourself before anyone else does”, and “keep creating, and putting out the content no matter what. It might touch somebody”. Finally, what I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I don’t do what I do for recognition or even money really( even though the money is important lol) I do it because the kitchen is where I find the most joy and I love sharing that experience with others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday: early morning workout, lunch at turkey leg hut, and then dinner and drinks at my house

Tuesday: early morning workout, leeland land house happy hour, and diablo loco for taco Tuesday

Wednesday: early morning workout, discovery green, brown sugar soul food

Thursday: early morning workout, fannin flowers, 7 spice seafood

Friday : early morning workout, ride scooters down town, lost and found

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I want to shoutout God for all the work he has done on me behind the scenes. Next I want to thank Pierce and Lamar for all the content creation ideas they have given me along the way. I also wanna shoutout the rest of the roommates for allowing me to spend so much time and take up so much space in the kitchen I know it can be annoying at times lol. Next I want shoutout my mother and the rest of my family and homies for always being super supportive of whatever I choose to purse. Next, I want to thank the supports of my cooking page, each one of you have a special place in my heart and I do not take the support for granted! Finally, I want to thank the homie Alex for convincing me to quit my job and start my cooking page.
