We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Accountability, honesty, integrity, and passion. These are rooted in everything our company does.
What should our readers know about your business?
Karina’s School of Dance turns 10 this year! Times have changed so much throughout the decade and I can honestly say that if social media then was what it is now, our founding years would have looked a little different. Despite COVID, we are more successful now then we’ve ever been. I’ve learned and grown so much as an artist, director, and studio owner. Students at our academy are not just a number, they are family, and our KSOD dance family continues to grow & expand every year.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots is 51fifteen inside of Saks Fifth Avenue at the Galleria. Sometimes I go there just for the coffee, but their entire menu is delicious. Shopping at the Galleria is always fun, however, I also enjoy supporting other local small businesses at various markets, such as the East End Market. They have the cutest shops! When it comes to movies, I love everything about iPic in the River Oaks District. As far as breathtaking views, Midtown and Downtown have all of them. The Houston skyline doesn’t get old, day or night. For nightlife enjoyment, we would definitely head to Washington Avenue and anywhere inner loop.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and my family are my biggest fans, and my strongest source of encouragement. They have been supporting since Day 1.
