We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelsey, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My small business idea began during our lockdown last year. I was unable to work my regular job for 2 months and had a lot of free time that allowed me to focus on things I otherwise wouldn’t have time for. I started to play around with different types of art forms which subsequently lead me into the world of polymer clay. At first, it was solely for fun, and then I realized I could take this further and turn this passion into a small business.

The name is a tribute to my hometown in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada that is nestled between the highways of 36 and 7. I wanted this business to have special meaning and remind me of where I grew up and how far I’ve come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Thirty-Six and Seven is an experience. Each piece is unique and thoughtfully crafted to take its meaning beyond just a piece of jewelry. Our collections are limited with no two pieces being alike. It’s all about that special feeling of exclusivity- knowing that the piece that you purchased is the only one created. Everything right down to the packaging and small details play a huge role into making Thirty-Six and Seven what it is.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in the suburbs of The Woodlands, TX, our choices are limited, however, for a weeknight outing I highly recommend True Foods, Flower Child, and Baja Cantina. The Jalapeño Pineapple Margarta from Baja Cantina is to die for. For a weekend outing, I suggest heading to Houston. Xochi downtown has the BEST authentic Mexican food and drinks. The hotspots of course would be in the heights or Montrose. There you can easily window shop for some amazing food, drinks, quaint coffee shops and boutiques. I always love a walk through the museum distract as well – it leads to Herman Park which is a great way to spend some time in the Texas sun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband is my biggest supporter. He fully supports any idea/decision that comes to mind. He helped push me to start selling my earrings and knocked out any doubt that tried to surface. Without hesitation, he is always there to lend a hand.
