We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelvin Louie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelvin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What is the most important factor behind my success and branding as a new realtor? I believe the most significant factor in my success is being humble in life and fostering relationships with everyone. The second most important aspect is having a remarkable mentor who helps establish a solid foundation in real estate etiquette. I joined KA Realty, a brokerage owned by Joseph Khuat. I think without his guidance, I don’t think my real estate career would have thrived. It’s not easy being a realtor if you do not put in the work and remain open-minded to learning. I would definitely struggle to find any success if I were not receptive and willing to try everything to enhance my achievements.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from all other realtors, and what drives me to success? I believe what distinguishes me from other realtors is my background in marketing and digital expertise. This experience has given me a unique perspective and a set of skills that enable me to effectively promote properties and reach a wider audience. Additionally, my drive to continuously learn and grow sets me apart. I am constantly seeking new knowledge and staying updated with industry trends, which allows me to provide the best possible service to my clients.
My approach to business is centered around building relationships and providing value to my clients. I strive to be an educational resource for them throughout the entire process. Transparency is a key aspect of my work, and I make sure not to blindside any clients. Instead, I guide them step by step, holding their hand and ensuring they are fully informed until we reach the finish line.
In the early stages of my career, I faced numerous challenges and had to navigate through trial and error. This experience taught me valuable lessons and processes that I continually remember and apply in my work. While I can be stubborn and dislike failure, I have learned to adapt and be flexible in order to achieve success and maintain strong relationships. Whether it’s adjusting to different personalities or circumstances, I understand the importance of being versatile.
Being a realtor has also had a profound impact on my personal growth. It has taught me virtues such as patience, empathy, and the ability to be a teacher and a friend to my clients. I recognize that each individual has unique needs and goals, and I tailor my approach accordingly. By fostering meaningful connections and providing exceptional service, I strive to not only excel in my career but also positively impact the lives of those I work with.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the city, where do I even start? There are tons of things to do in Houston, and more franchises are coming into town. Chinatown in Bellaire and Katy Asia Town are always great places to go for delicious meals and to satisfy your boba cravings.
When it comes to nightlife, Washington or Midtown are definitely the go-to areas. They offer a vibrant and diverse range of bars, clubs, and entertainment venues to enjoy.
After a long week, if you’re looking for a fantastic place to eat, my personal favorite would be Norigami! You can never go wrong with sushi when you’re in Houston. They have a new location opening soon in Rice Village, which is a fantastic addition to the city’s dining scene.
Of course, don’t just take my word for it—come down to Houston and experience these wonderful spots for yourself. The city has so much to offer, and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of favorite places of your own!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family for always supporting my decisions. Throughout my life, I have faced numerous challenges, but they have consistently been there to support me in pursuing my goals. Joseph Khuat is undeniably one of the most influential role models I aspire to emulate when it comes to building a real estate empire. He stands as a real-life Asian monopoly game, single-handedly owning nearly 240 units. KA Realty is not just an ordinary brokerage; it serves as a platform for learning about various aspects of owning your own real estate empire, including KA Constructions, KA Housing, KA Development, and KA Realty. The knowledge I acquire from this company motivates me to share my expertise with fellow realtors and friends. I am always ready to assist others in their growth and impart valuable insights to help them elevate their careers. We are all in this together, regardless of the team we represent. In order to successfully close transactions, realtors must collaborate and work together until the finish line. There is no “I” in team, and I have actually formed my own team to streamline my work. I have a reliable title company, First American Title Hedwig Village, where Lexie Nguyen provides me with valuable guidance throughout the process. Whenever I require assistance for loans, I reach out to multiple lenders such as Lock-it Lending with Chris Nguyen and Arlena from Absolute Mortgage. Networking has been a pivotal factor in my success, as learning and growing from individuals with more experience has been instrumental in propelling my career forward.
