We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelyn Henry (Nash) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelyn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve been drawn to creativity since I can remember, but it was my love for makeup artistry that really ignited my passion for the beauty industry. This journey led me to become a licensed esthetician and eventually to launch my own line of products. Now, I’ve expanded into running a content and photo studio where I provide an affordable space for fellow creative minds to bring their visions to life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Certainly! My journey in the beauty industry has been an evolution fueled by my passion for creativity and my commitment to empowering others through skincare and makeup. What sets me apart is my dedication to fostering skin confidence. Beyond just the artistry of makeup, I believe in enhancing and nurturing healthy skin.

I’m most proud of creating a space where individuals can not only express themselves creatively but also feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. From launching my own product line to establishing a content and photo studio, every step has been driven by a desire to promote self-expression and self-love.

The path to where I am today hasn’t been easy. There have been challenges along the way, from navigating the competitive beauty industry to overcoming doubts and setbacks. But through perseverance and a relentless pursuit of my vision, I’ve managed to overcome these obstacles.

One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience and adaptability. In an ever-changing industry, being able to pivot and innovate is crucial. Additionally, staying true to my values and maintaining a genuine connection with my audience has been instrumental in building my brand.

Ultimately, I want the world to know that my brand isn’t just about makeup or skincare—it’s about embracing individuality, celebrating diversity, and fostering confidence from within. My story is one of passion, perseverance, and the belief that beauty starts with self-acceptance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As I’ve recently relocated back to Houston from Dallas, my social circle is still in the making, which can be a bit lonely at times. However, I’ve taken the opportunity to embark on solo adventures, discovering some hidden gems along the way.

For dining, I’d undoubtedly take my best friend to Bungalow. Not only do they serve up fantastic food, but the drinks are top-notch. Plus, having my cousin there is an added bonus—he always knows how to make our experience extra special. Just ask for the assistant manager and tell him I sent you; he’ll take care of you, with a touch of humor, of course!

When it’s time to unwind and lounge, Space Cowboy is my go-to spot. Whether it’s for a relaxed afternoon or a chill evening, the atmosphere is unbeatable.

For those nights when we’re in the mood for some low-key music and soothing vibes, Avant Garden never disappoints. It’s the perfect place to unwind and lose ourselves in the melodies.

And of course, no trip to Houston would be complete without experiencing the vibrant poetry scene at We Go Live. The energy and talent on display during their poetry nights are simply unmatched.

While my social circle may be small for now, exploring these spots solo has taught me the value of self-discovery and enjoying my own company. And who knows, soon enough, I’ll have a friend to share these experiences with. Until then, I’ll continue to embrace the adventure solo-style.
