We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenda Biddle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenda, how have you been keeping yourself busy during quarantine?
During quarantine, my favorite thing to do has been to play games with my husband and children! We have been enjoying playing card games, board games, and even video games together. My kids love the game “Throw Throw Burrito” which is a combination card game and dodgeball. Although we are busy with work, school assignments, and adjusting to the new normal of our daily routine, taking a moment each day to put everything else aside and just concentrate on being a family has been tremendously important. While the Stay Home – Work Safe order was in effect, I stayed busy with work by editing images that clients took themselves. Even though I couldn’t conduct sessions in person, being able to hand-edit their images to ensure their memories are preserved perfectly was a fun way for me to remain connected to my clients. I also am working toward my Master’s of Business Administration degree, so I have been busy with online classes. In addition, the closure of schools allowed me the opportunity to help my kids, who are in second grade and kindergarten, with their school work. My days were very busy! I almost feel like a need a vacation from quarantine!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I strive to provide high quality portrait photography at affordable prices. When I was a stay-at-home mom, I was very discouraged by how inaccessible family portraits were because of the high prices and the hidden costs after the session. We had to budget each month very carefully, and we just could not afford the special “extras” like professional portrait sessions. With K Biddle Photography, I strive to keep my overhead costs low so that I can offer portrait sessions to clients at the lowest possible price. I also offer an upfront pricing structure. No deposits, no booking fees, and no hidden extras that have to be purchased after the session allow families of all incomes and backgrounds the opportunity to access high quality family portraits. Building my business has been a labor of love. I strive to provide an excellent experience for each client; I have built my business by hand one session at a time. I spend hours hand-editing each image in a client’s final gallery, and I especially love getting to know the families and people I’m working with. Having clients come back to me year after year for milestone portraits is a huge compliment; I can’t describe how awesome it is to see families grow and change from one year to the next!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my sister were to come for a weekend visit, we would start with a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science! It is a wonderful place to explore, and each exhibit is very engaging. It is one of my favorite places in Houston! Dinner would be at Fleming’s; my favorite steakhouse in the area. The next day we would have to have breakfast at Seabrook Waffle Company; their waffles cannot be beat! We would spend the day in Galveston at the beach, and while there we would have to have my dad’s favorite food: shrimp kisses! We would spend the final day picking strawberries at Froberg’s Farm, and we would grab dessert from my favorite bakery: Craved Creations in League City.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was thinking about starting my own business, two people really encouraged me to go for it. Their belief and confidence in me was unwavering, and they helped me to believe in myself. I would not be where I am today without my loving husband, Andrew, and my amazing sister, Krisi! These two people are my best friends, and I am lucky to have their support, love, and confidence every day.
