We had the good fortune of connecting with Kent & Choey Maree and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kent & Choey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We started our business from home after choey had a regular doctors appointment and we learned that she had pre-cancerous cells. After finding this out we decided to do extensive research on starting a home business about micro greens.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One of the things that sets Maree’s Greens apart from any of the others in this business would be in the details of the growing of our product. Quality and freshness of our product is crucial in the success of our business. Taking care of our customers and doing what we say we are going to do is extremely important to us as a small business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all they would be going with us to church on Sunday at Sagemont Church where it all started for us seven years ago when we first met. After that would be to visit a few of our favorite restaurants such as Jinya, Pappas Seafood, Pappasitos Cantina, Red River BBQ and Ruth Chris Steakhouse. We are very family oriented and would make a few stops around different family members for a visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost we would like to give God all the glory for giving us this vision and leading us down this path for our new business to help others live a healthier lifestyle. Second of all wound be my husband Kent who’s love, encouragement and support during the start of this business. It would not have been possible without his vision on how we should get started here at home. Third on the list would be John Milstead and his wife Ellen from Erma’s Nutrition Center on Nasa Rd One. They gave us the opportunity to be a vendor at their farmers market every Saturday between the hours of 10am and 2 pm. From that opportunity we have grown every week that passes by.
