We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshena Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keshena, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Yes I think about risk all the time and if it’s truly worth it. What’s interesting is I’ve taken so many risks with business and career because I felt passionate about the move or believed I could do it, Most have paid off or was a great lesson for me. I think playing it safe with timid steps is not the way to transform in success. It’s like getting your feet wet which means the effort is not gonna be 100% at least for me knowing you can easily get out of it.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart is I am a lifelong learner. I’ve had a great successful medical professional career which I still loves gain great experiences from different roles. My career is always there when I need to come back as I do miss it sometimes. My long term focus is beings a successful entrepreneur. I’ve had a few businesses and know it’s not an overnight thing. What makes me excited or proud to be a business owner is I found so many ideas to try or get into that I never would’ve done if I just worked a job. When one source of business doesn’t work out or becomes stale due to a pandemic(real life example) somehow, I can always find or research another type of business to get into that will bring me back up. That is the beauty of being an entrepreneur is finding a business model(s) that works for you, if it doesn’t keep going until you find one that does!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Sugarland and Pearland. Low key spots with great food not a lot of crowds and easy free parking 🙂 My family and friends know I love to travel and I am laid back. If there’s an island with beautiful scenery, great food, music and vibes, sign me up! That’s my favorite thing to do!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say there are SOOO many people I could shout out that I’ve learn so much from in business and being a boss. One that sticks out is my cousin Sheena Baker, a hugely successful Real Estate Broker in the Chicagoland area. I admire her grit, work ethic, relationships she’s’ built and her willingness to share and help others succeed. She’s deserves the recognition!
