We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, how do you think about risk?
Well Risk is my middle name! Just kidding! My family and friends will tell you I have always been a risk taker. Taking risk has lead me to both of my businesses. We also own a photography company. I take a risk with being a business owner everyday. It is not for the weak. I put in a lot of hours day and night and would not trade it for the world. The passion I have for our businesses, I have never felt before.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I would say what sets us apart from others is that we offer such a unique vintage camper. Your guest will fall in love with how’s cute we decorate her for the event. Sissy is not only for weddings. She can be used for any kind of event. We have been all over Texas with Sissy. We have booked weddings, quinceanera’s, baby showers, corporate events, conferences, and birthday parties. For the most part it’s been fairly easy. The previous owner of Sissy had a very good process. I would say our only challenge we are having now is that there is a lot of competition in our area. We are promoting often. We are hoping to beat personal goals that we have set this year. I believe we are on the right track. I want the world to know that every tear has been worth it. We are not where we want to be yet in our business but we are heading in the right direction. I will keep pushing myself to reach these goals. You have one life to live and why not make the best of it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We always make sure to take our friends and family to Downtown Brenham. The buildings there are beautiful. There are so many amazing shops there. We love the live music on weekends. We also always make sure to take everyone to Kenney Store in Kenney! They have the best environment, food and entertainment. It’s always a great experience!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give credit to my husband for always allowing me to chase my dreams. This man has been a trouper through every idea I have ran across him. James works Sissy pretty much 90 percent of the time due to our other business being booked. I really appreciate him and love him to pieces.
